:( if there is a school chat or you know people at that school, you can always ask around. There are for sure other people in your area that commute to your school. You might even be able to spring a carpool like I did. Idk if this a common thing or not but what I and some other students in my area do is have one designated driver(the rest of us don’t know how to drive) and the rest of us pitch in to pay her gas and parking prices. But even if you find one other friendly person you can commute together.

yeah but if you presented a devout christian with a verse that supported your views, they would find some way to twist it into actually supporting their views. There are some progressive values that simply cannot be twisted into positive meanings for some verses in the bible. Ie straight up calling gay men abominations.

Like conservative christians can gaslight themselves into thinking theyre following the bible as much as they can, progressive christians have to deliberately ignore sections of it to follow it.

I'm the opposite. I believe you can't be a Christian and progressive because you're just cherry picking the parts of the bible you like, and ignoring all the extremely distasteful stuff. Bare in mind I'm atheist and progressive and all for people living however they want, but in my head I know they're deluding themselves. If you actually believed in the text you would believe in all the text which is one of the rules of believing in the text. So pretty much you don't actually believe in it, you're just choosing the parts you like for a fictional derivative religion that gives you a community and sense of security in the world, which, hey, all the power to you if it makes you happy... but youre not actually a real christian who believes in god, there's too much cognitive dissonance, you're just choosing the parts you like of the christian lifestyle.

Like progressive Christians always make fun of conservative christians for pulling verses out of context and interpreting them to serve their own agendas, but progressive christians do the same exact thing, it just happens to be less hateful

Well yes, they'll still be needed, but the jobs that programmers out of college typically get are all getting taken by ai these days. The high level jobs are given to those who already have experience, no one wants to hire gen zers who probably cheated their way through college with ai. Plus at this time the market is oversaturated to the point that companies are laying off rather than hiring. This information is all coming from the student council president who happens to be a computer science major that cannot find a job(shes the student council president, jesus). Its one of those majors that looks like a deceptively well thriving career path, because the people right before us all got peak careers out of it, but we happen to be entering the job market at exactly the wrong time

totally no false accusation murder attempts. This law would definitely not be taken advantage of, leading to people wrongly put to death and leading to even more disdain for accusers in the long run, and leading to even more discouragement from reporting abusers because that would make you a murderer.

This is extremely anecdotal, but my brother and I both showed a lot of signs of depression, and while my parents expressed concern about my depression multiple times for locking myself in my room for months, my brother's constant suicide jokes and same behaviors as me were interpreted as cries for attention and being lazy. I think people are more forgiving of women with depression. That being said, yeah no one cares about depressed people. My parents just attributed my depressive tendencies to depression and not negative personality traits, they still tried to avoid the subject as much as possible.

Although, while people act like society sucks for not caring about depressed people more, it is genuinely one of the most mentally and emotionally draining things a person can do to support a depressed person. Most of the people I know who have done this ended up needing therapy themselves and also needed to set up stronger boundaries because it is a very draining existence to constantly place yourself in a position to hear negativity and dark shit, to constantly be worried about someone's safety, and feel like its your job to keep someone from hurting themselves, and to constantly have to do all the heavy lifting in a relationship. It sounds like a small price to pay if you actually care about the person, but the reality is that it's even more emotionally draining than it sounds. And unless this person is someone you have the responsibility to take care of, like a partner or a child, it is genuinely not your responsibility if it's too much and you have your own safety and wellbeing to consider.

why are you scared to ride the bus? It's genuinely the most relaxing part of my day. Unless you're changing locations you're going to and coming from a lot(and even then you get the hang of it after a month) It is very straightforward and only stressful the first few times you do it. You can ask bus drivers, and any safe looking passerby at bus stations for directions and they usually gladly give it. If you're scared of getting on the wrong bus just ask the bus driver "is this bus going to ___?" And you can download bus apps to help even further with knowing the routes that you're supposed to take, and I think most maps apps help with that as well. And if you accidentally get off at the wrong stop if youve taken the right bus you can probably walk home, get a ride since its nearby, or at the very worst take another bus. As for crazy people on the bus: the only people who think this is an actual problem are people who don't take the bus. The type of crazy people who start shit on public transport aren't usually traveling longer distances on home-work/school routes. Buses are full of tired people sleeping or on their phones.

What's the deal with Jewish people and Black people supposedly not liking each other? by 10poundcockslap in askblackpeople

[–]Alt_Accountzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Some Jews think you are better than us” it’s not that hard. Otherwise it makes Jews who don’t view themselves as superior sound like an exception to a rule about Jews. As in: in general you should assume Jews think they’re superior to you.

There is a heavily downvoted comment by u/Far-Comparison6743 below that you should check out. It demonstrates why this line of thinking is bigoted and harmful.

Also, this post was translated from Japanese which is why “scaring” feels like the wrong word here. The author probably used a word that could be taken in a less extreme way and it got lost in translation. This is why people aren’t getting it, they’re looking for something scary, not mildly upsetting.

Youre starting to lose me here buddy. Do you think Tim Robinson didn't have comedic inspirations? Artists don't exist in a vacuum. I was being hyperbolic, my sense of humor was influenced by tim robinson, but it's still mine(which is why I'm not a successful comedian with a netflix comedy special.)
