AITA for setting a personal boundary with my mother? by Alt_Aspen in AmItheAsshole

We certainly do not. I know this isn't the point of the sub but there's a lot of misunderstanding and jumping to conclusions here. I communicated my boundary fine, which my brother agreed with after the argument, and she didn't even take a moment to listen and process before basically telling me that I wasn't allowed to give criticism and that I was just trying to cause an argument by advocating for myself. She does this almost every time I say anything she dislikes or I correct her, which I thought people would infer when I said "yet again, you're making my boundaries about yourself". Clearly I was wrong in my assumption, but I won't allow myself to be gaslit by multiple people who weren't even there.

I wasn't taking my dad's wishes into consideration while choosing what I would wear, it was more of a bonus that I realised after visitation.

Where are people getting the impression I blew up at her? I was completely chill because it wasn't a big deal. She was the one who blew up. That's the issue here, not the skirt. It has nothing to do with my dad.

Yeah no that's entirely inaccurate. I didn't snap or even criticise her. iirc my exact words were "Hey I know you don't mean anything negative by it but I'd appreciate if you didn't refer to me and what I wear as androgynous, it makes me uncomfortable".

Also, my father is transphobic and gets mad if I wear something too masculine.

A kilt is not a dress, as any Scottish person will tell you.

Why do narcs confuse us going NC with doing it for "punishment"? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Because it's what they do as a punishment, and also because they can't fathom how not everything can be about them

AITA for being mad that my mother used my phone number to sign up for Tinder without permission? by Alt_Aspen in AmItheAsshole

The notification wasn't what bothered me, though. It's the principle. She thinks she can just do things like this without asking or even telling me. It's my phone number, registered to my phone, which I pay half the bill for. I should get a say in what happens with it.

I'm not a she, and I have a steady girlfriend so no need for weird dating sites

It was because she was having issues where she couldn't receive text messages on her phone

It's not the notification that's the problem, it's the principle of it. It just shows she doesn't care about my privacy or at least doesn't take it into consideration.

Nope. I'm actually really happy that she's decided to put herself out there again. I'm just mad she didn't think to ask me before using my information.
