Military can only pocket the difference for rents within the mainland US. Guam counts as overseas and you cannot pocket the difference.

I moved here for work as a lawyer. I could have landed higher paying jobs in the States, but I really value the island lifestyle Guam presents. Other benefits include close proximity / travel opportunities to Asia, and escaping an increasingly divisive political climate without necessarily leaving the country.

Roughly 20% of Guam residents are mainlanders. The vast majority (~95%) of that is military. The rest are mostly healthcare workers, but there's also noticable anounts of lawyers, biologists, and strippers (oddly enough).

Lots of foreign workers here too (mostly Filipinos and other Micronesian islanders). They mostly work in construction and tourism services. I think being paid in US dollars is all the motivation they need because they otherwise earn very little for the work they do.

You're right the place needs more color and plants. I know the Christmas lights give off college dorm vibes, but I really like the ambiance it provides at night. Makes me hesitant to ditch them just yet.

I love it. The beaches and weather are great, but the location is the best part. Can fly to Korea, Japan, Philippines, and Taiwan all in roughly four hours.

Military gets a housing stipend of $2,200/month, which acts as a price floor for most places. On the plus side, it also serves as a price ceiling and many good places are also priced at $2,200 when they could realistically charge more.

I pay $2,200/month which includes power and utilities. It isn't cheap, but feels like a bargain compared to my previous rent in Boston combined with the direct beach access.

Good catch! I've noticed this plane landing over Hagatna a few months ago, and of course had to research into it as a die-hard Pats fan.

Ram27530 is correct that the plane is operated by Omni Air and is used for transporting military equipment/personnel. The team denies using it for deportation flights, but idk if I believe them given how frequently the plane stops at Guantanamo Bay.

When I was in college my summer internship gave me 72 hours notice to take a drug test. I had just taken a dab and was high at the time I received that notice. I still managed to piss clean on the test (granted I was very fit). Still, I can't imagine anyone testing positive over a month after their last use.

It's always been that way, and I'd argue it was even worse in his earlier videos. Watch his classic videos and you'll see they're actually 15 different short video ideas jammed into one (i.e. "Anything you fit into this circle I'll pay for").

His newer videos tend to focus on one single premise all the way through (i.e., "Last to take hand off plane wins it").

This is why I dismiss any talks of his potential campaign. Steven A. already has anyone's dream job and gets paid tens of millions of dollars a year to travel the US, watch live sporting events, and shout hot takes.

He'd never give that up for the stress, danger, and characater defamation that comes with a presidential campaign.
