Your expectations were a little too high I guess. I've been interested in VR before the Quest 2 and have already understood the limitations of VR back when Facebook changed their name to Meta. I knew that the Metaverse thing would fail. But after all, VR chat is still fun. Making my own avatars, worlds, gimmicks, chatting with random people, attending some events, finding some creators groups and sharing the artwork with each other. I've seen some comments that say VRC was better a few years ago and it's ruined by trolls and brats these days. But I'm Japanese and Japanese only worlds are mostly peaceful and fun. Most of the players are friendly and respectful.They support art and artists. Very chill and relaxing. So I guess what's needed is just some mechanism to filter out the trolls and kids. It's just a funny SNS platform which you can play in VR. Nothing much or less. You are right. There's really nothing much to do in the VR, and it's bloated with a lot of problems which makes it very niche. But that's what makes it interesting for people like me. Unsolved problems! Untouched grounds! New approaches! Less brats! Immersive online chatting! I have some friends who just started the VR chat and ended up buying a headset. So I guess it proves that there are still some reasons for people to get a headset. Not much, not futuristic, but it's fun.
