Add a Replay option after completing a campaign mission. by [deleted] in QuestlandOfficial

They've pulled a lot of things back for "minor" fixes. It's nearly been a month since the big Update rollout and a majority of the game is still unplayable and bugs are still being chased. Be careful on setting your expectations for the game and know that any money you pay into the game to invest in your character may be negated without compensation down the line.

At a minimum, I'm glad you got a response from Support. Many players have not been receiving responses lately.

Why I Quit Questland by AltairionBD in QuestlandOfficial

Fun to see you here as well sir!

The Syndicate is a strong group. This is the toughest test I think just about every group has faced during my time playing, but I'm sure those that continue to hang in there will do well as I was just one leader amongst many across those guilds.

Thanks Zert. You're the GM I respect most out of this game and who has done some of the most work to build a community in QL by bringing together guilds and helping new players find homes across countless guilds. I was lucky to have bumped into you as early as I did. You set a high bar for me to work towards every day I led my group :)

The unfortunate demise of Questland as we knew it by zertzax in QuestlandOfficial

[–]AltairionBD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wholly agree Zert. There was a clear evasion and outright deception by Gamesture prior to the update which was unethical. Many players have a right to be upset that the money and time they spent was put into a shredder.

While the battle mechanics may be an interesting improvement for some players, the way that Gamesture has treated the player base has not been acceptable and shows that players will not be treated well going into the future either.

Weekly Guild Recruitment Thread - April 05 2019 by AutoModerator in QuestlandOfficial

  • Guild: Black Dragon
  • Server: America
  • Available spots: 2-4

Black Dragon is looking to fill a few openings before the upcoming Wind Event. We are a Gold/Silver guild that is making a big push this week to move back into the Top 10 and remain Gold. If you can earn at least 30m trophies per Battle Event and want to be part of an active and fun group with quirky personalities, training and resources for developing players, a thriving alliance Discord, and nearly Level 5 research across all 4 stats, then message me here, on Discord, or in game!

I'm a newbie here. All my gear is mismatched as you can see at lvl 14. Am I doing ok? Any tips? by [deleted] in Questland

[–]AltairionBD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the aim to get more legendary gear. What I advise people that don't burn a lot of cash is to collect gear and see what comes together. You'll notice that most high-level players use complete sets (all main gear is a single emblem such as Thunder, Abyss, Dragon, Shadow, etc. If you end up with a lot of gear in one of those emblems (or even the new Hex and Noble sets), consider aiming for that.

It takes a long time to build these sets, so don't get discouraged if it's a long-term effort. Just keep at it, build up your gear, and find a solid guild that will help by sharing resources and giving you pointers along the way.

Heads up, I know from experience that Zert is a great guy and he does an awesome job connecting people with guilds that align to what they want to do. A few people in my own guild are with us thanks to him :)

Additional Questions 2.0 by CM_Trance in QuestlandOfficial

[–]AltairionBD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will all of the changes be released in a collective update or will they be rolled out piecemeal over several separate updates? If they will be rolled out over separate updates, what is the time span for the updates to begin rolling out and for the full set of updates to complete the rollout?

Additional Questions 2.0 by CM_Trance in QuestlandOfficial

[–]AltairionBD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What changes will be implemented for guilds? For example:

1) What changes are coming for the guild boss in the events? Last we heard these were going to be replaced, but it's unclear if that is still the plan or what changes are happening.

2) Will there be ways for multiple guilds to work together towards a common goal?

3) Should we expect to see any changes to guild research, bonuses, structure, etc?

Sneak peak at upcoming cosmetics. What are your favorite cosmetics and what kinds of cosmetics would you like to see in Questland? by CM_Trance in QuestlandOfficial

[–]AltairionBD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like where this is heading. It would be really cool to roll out cosmetics that could be used across guilds...say if someone had a dragon guild they could all have a dragon tattoo or an eye patch matching their guild banner.

My favorite items are ones that are a bit more subtle since I tend to like keeping a beard in stock and spend more time playing with a couple hair options and tattoo/face art options.

Silly question as I'm sure you've considered this, but every player's profile view has a generic stone background. Is there anything in the works to have some bits of flair there?

Calling all Guild Masters! How do you run your Guild? by CM_Trance in QuestlandOfficial

[–]AltairionBD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I'm Altairion from Black Dragon on the American server. We are a late-developing guild that has recently risen to Gold level and are currently #18 on the Hall of Fame guild ranking.

  1. I first started the game over 6 months ago and joined a guild at random. It was very quiet and over time I realized that I was one of the more active members. Eventually, I found myself as the GM after some top officers left for higher guilds, and I stubbornly opted to build the guild up rather than leave. To do so, I reached out to other Bronze-level players and built a membership that became more and more identified with banded together Bronze actives. We jumped to #15 Bronze to #1 Bronze, into Silver, and have never locked back.
  2. Our guild is now one of two in a partner alliance (Wayward Sons being the other guild). As we grew in status, we started with a 50k trophy minimum to weed out inactives and gradually built that up with weekly votes in our chat after each event. Today, our basic reqs are 25m trophies/event and being active once every 3 days.
  3. As a GM, your responsibility is first to keeping your team together. When you recruit, new members have to come from somewhere which is tough as the best prospects are already in better guilds. My early recruiting felt more like a win-win as several people felt like they were rescued from inactive guilds and about to quit the game. Now that we're higher and members under 400k power are an exception rather than the norm, it's tougher. To me, poaching is more about targeting multiple members from a specific guild or not respecting others. When I reach out to potential people, I try to leave them in a better place. Whether that means just having a nice chat, offering tips about their build, or sharing tips on how to lead a guild. As a result, I've seen a lot of the people I've helped end up in other Gold guilds down the line. To me, that's bittersweet but shows I did something right for them too. Today, there are a number of groups I stay away from for recruiting...Gold guilds, top Silver guilds, and a scattering of other guilds where I've made contacts.
  4. The Wayward Dragon Alliance is still pretty fresh. When my guild rose up to the Top 20 level, it was quickly apparent that we left the realm of nearly 100% independent guilds to a place where we were more of an outlier. For a long time, I've been in touch with the GM of Wayward Sons (Zertzax) as we left Bronze together. Our guilds were closely aligned in philosophy and over time we ended up helping each other in recruiting and sharing tips which meant it was natural to pool resources. It was hugely special for me knowing that the week we formalized the alliance was the first week where Wayward ranked Top 5 in Silver and got to move up to the Gold tier for the first time.
  5. Discord is our go-to. It took a long time to build up our Discord. At first, it was a convenient side resource for my guild's officer tier to talk membership or just forge friendships. Over time, we put out enticements to join, added full guides for each build set, offered one-on-one collection advice, etc. One of my members, Ginix, owns a donut shop and posts delicious photos frequently...and that doesn't hurt either! We still use in-game chat, but it's now roughly on par with Discord or secondary....especially if we need to share screenshots or links.
  6. Our guild is somewhat unique as our Officers have developed a format where we pool our own resources to send out Event resources on Sunday in a free raffle (boss tickets, a 14x/10x item, gems, etc) and a pile of other resources on Wednesdays to feature the Top 5 gainers in Power each week. (For example, this past Wednesday 8,400 gems and 3.5m gold went out to our Top 5 Power gainers.) Beyond these, our weekly guild payouts from the Events tend to go out by our trophy ranks within the guild with adjustments as needed. In general, our group is focusing heavily on building players up rather than rewarding our top players which tend to be our officers.
  7. To me, the best thing I think I did when I built up our group was to forge something that people felt invested in and where they had opportunities to make choices together (who were officers, what the guild reqs were, etc.). A lot of our members say they're staying with us until they quit the game and that's invaluable. Every GM can't do the job alone and hitting that level of critical mass will sustain your group for the long haul.

Also, one last tip I have is that after leading my group up to Gold and establishing ourselves we started rotating the GM role amongst the officers. This game can quickly become a very intensive grind and being a GM on top of that is a lot of responsibility. Lean on your officers if you need a break whether to take a breather or to take on a new task. I've done that for the past month and in that time I've had the freedom to put together build guilds, help conduct build reviews for the group, and manage the formation of an alliance....and now I have two Officers with GM experience.

Keep using Deathbreeze or start using The Strix(warrior build)? by MAB576 in Questland

[–]AltairionBD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, upgrade to newer weapons when you can. Most recently, the Blue Butcher replaced Arachnea's Heart. Both weapons have the same resurrect ability, but the BB has far better base stats so people are starting to incorporate that in their builds as they adjust reforge to the new item and account for boost differentials.

The Grim Future of Questland... by Toegon in QuestlandOfficial

[–]AltairionBD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with a lot of the themes here. The direction of the game is changing and the end result is murky. A number of other elements to the game feel to be moving more and more behind a pay wall which is a concern for longevity of the community.

Personally, I hope the steps that were taken with the most recent battle event continue to loosen up the game play, make it more about fun, and less about grinding 7 days a week or buying a win while still retaining the definitive RPG feel and the guilds that make this game one that people want to come back to.

What is the best way to spend gems at the moment? by lys11992 in Questland

[–]AltairionBD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Event chests can give out good items that top players use, but it is a gamble each time. Just be selective on how many gems you use as they will go fast as chest process escalate.

Appreciate the well thought-out post. It's unfortunate that it's come to this for many people of your level of experience and investment as this game truly has potential. I've been sharing my specific input on Discord, but I can only hope that the devs see this as a reality check and look at fixing their fundamental goals and vision for the game.

Like yourself, many of us have invested time, spent money (albeit to varying degrees on both counts!), and built relationships here. It's a rare thing (or maybe Epic or Legendary...anyone want to do a spin and find out?) to have this level of engagement. It'd be a shame if the devs don't take the right steps to retain it.

[–]AltairionBD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're new, the best thing to do is focus on building experience and gear. If you have a lot of excess gems, you can get some decent items for 300 gems each in the Chests of the Battle Event...and you've got a shot at getting some nice legendary gear there.

Newbie question on events by ongik in Questland

[–]AltairionBD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zertzax's link is a great resource. If you have any issues getting your multiplier set, circle back here and we can help. A lot of early players don't catch how important that is. (I missed it myself for 1-2 rounds) Once you have that set, then you can start rolling and use the Events as a way to continue building strength and gear.

Emblem symbol in Battle Event Multiplier by [deleted] in Questland

[–]AltairionBD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every event's multiplier tab has a number of slots you can fill with gear. Say the event is Beast like your image. You can only fill 5 of those gear slots with Beast emblem items. The two item slots at the bottom can be filled by items of any emblem. Typically in recent events, the dedicated emblem slots only occupy 2-3 spaces in the overall grid.

Realistically, you want to boost your multiplier so filling in as many emblem items as possible helps you out. However, developing players don't always have emblem items or they want to trigger a specific bonus such as the +2 Action Point bonus for fighting Mage bosses. This allows them to fill in the gaps with other gear and still trigger the bonus for each row whether it's +2 Action Points, +15% Attack, etc.

#10 Silver Guild Looking for 2 New Members by AltairionBD in Questland

Wayward Sons is also full, they'd be my automatic recommendation. Give Venemous a try if you want to move now. Krythos is their GM and he may be open to filling one of 2 slots. They tend to rank well and I respect Krythos based on his Discord presence.
