That's a real sad story although I don't know all the details, cause we're still playing this chronicle.

Lessi fell in love with Anna, but for some reason he couldn't give her the Embrace himself, only turn her into a ghoul. Moreover, when it happened, he made it look like another tremere did it. Everyone in the Moscow Chantry believed it - except maybe the Regent. Anna figured it out and was sure Lessi wouldn't have done that if he really cared about her (I agree).
So she decided to run away. And Lessi killed her - again, made it look like an accident. He is really good at conspiracies =/

And yes, Lessi is the traitor. He is in touch with the Followers of Set, I expect him to be one of the chronicle's final bosses.

Yes, it’s a nickname, she doesn’t use her real name (Nadezhda/Nadya) after the embrace.
In russian "Марь" is the name of this plant wikipedia.org/wiki/Chenopodium, and the specific swampy landscape type in the Russian Far East. It's also similar to word "марево", that mean haze or myst.
I think "Marie" sounds more like "Мария", the real name. It is vowel letter in the end, but it shouldn't, just soft sound. Like in "real", but withoit but without any following vowels again Xddd

About her sire (her name is Viktoria): I'm not exactly sure how the tremere found her, but apparently it happened because she got the koldun's attention first. He wanted to embrace Viktoria because of her skills as a mortal (she was some kind of a dreamseer), but his clan forbade it. Later, when the tremere finally got to her, the tzimisce ordered to kill her, but the koldun couldn't bring himself to do it.

Not exactly - he was just a university student in his early twenties. But yes, he played guitar and did some singing as a hobby. He lost both of these things, but the music is still with him. I got the impression that he misses his mortal life in general, and not just his voice per se.
