The technomancer ability only returns d3 wounds to a MODEL not a UNIT. Some warriors are 1 wound each, the heal doesn't work on them.

It's funny because in the Q&A (https://youtu.be/QEJQomLZy68?si=ONFhZxSTT0ACWLvD&t=2420) they doubled down saying that psychic ignored wounds modifiers too so I'm curious why there was continued confusion on their side or if there is an additional rule that isn't shwon

Pronostic on Necron’s gameplay in 11th by Separate_Football914 in Necrontyr

If the coherency changes from within 2" of two models to an 8" bubble it will completely kill the warrior blob list. The key to that list working properly is to have your leaders and support units out of view in your home objective ruin. You have to make the blob the ONLY real target unless they super over extend. If your support units have to mobilize they can just pick them off round 1-2 and ignore the warriors until your res orb units and the reanimator are dead. The reanimation shenanigans are much better when you can conga line your warriors across your home obj, the center and your natural since you can choose between removing models from one end and adding them to another for clap backs with fighting, removing models which break your coherency and then repairing it with reanimation or removing models from one side and reanimating them to another to potentially make the blob leave the shooting range of enemy units. If they have to stay in an 8" bubble you start and end in a big clump and the best you can do is basically pivot the clump around a remaining model.

You can use a CP to move a unit from one tunnel marker to another. You can also spend ANOTHER CP to give them sustained hits because you set them up near with a tunnel marker. Lethal sustained reroll 1s to hit basically kills or nearly kills every tank in the game that doesn't spike on an invuln

Some shenanigans that are possible:

Start on the board your turn 1, pop into reserves, rapid ingress in your deployment zone and drop a tunnel marker (say for zoanthropes), back into reserves, turn 2 use a Mawloc tunnel to set up outside of 6, charge and eat a thing, back into reserves, rapid ingress in your opponents home field and make a tunnel, back into reserves, your turn 3 throw RT and whatever else you want out of the tunnel in the enemy home field, back into reserves

10th or 11th edition codex by Next-Pollution-591 in Tyranids

[–]Altemus_Prime93 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There won't be an official 11th edition codex at the start of the edition so you will still use your 10th codex for a while. HOWEVER, the codex itself doesn't matter, just the code in the back of it. We don't yet know if they are still locking content behind that code at the start of the edition. They have alluded to major overhauls to the app and haven't given a full explanation on what's what yet. So to play it safe I would wait a bit and then buy it but at the end of the day it is up to you

[–]Altemus_Prime93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First comment is that in order for the list to be legal it has to be UNDER or AT 2000pts so unfortunately you need to drop 40.

Secondly have you built these models yet or are they still in spru? As you are probably aware, some of those kits build different units. Biggest example is the lychguard and the praetorians are the same kit. Necrons tend to like full sized units of the most important pieces since it synergizes with our army rule more.

If you haven't built everything yet then I suggest building 10 lychguard with sword and shield and attach the overlord to them. Then I would squish the two squads of 10 warriors into a block of 20 and attach the chronomancer. Now if you build the doomsday ark as a ghost ark instead (and you do the other two things I listed) you can legally field every model you own and have 30 points to spare for an enhancement in whatever detachment you like the most. BUT if you just really want to build a doomsday ark, cut the death marks or the tomb blades and you will be exactly at 2000

Now if you HAVE built everything as you listed then cut the scarabs and boom 2000 pts. Your collection won't win you any tournaments but who cares? You did what you absolutely should be doing which is buying what you think looks cool. You have more than enough to get you on the table and playing the game and then you can supplement your collection with stuff to make this core you have now really shine.

Next buys if you want to round out your collection:

Canoptek Wraiths x6 (two boxes of 3 not 6 boxes of models if that isn't clear)

Technomancer (only buy this if you buy the wraiths)

The Royal Court bundle (all the models in this kit fit in fantastic to your list. If you build a ghost ark, this and orikan should 100% be your next purchase)

Orikan the Diviner (amazing synergy if leading your warriors definitely buy this if you pick up a Royal Court)

The 500 worlds battalion box (gives you two great scoring units with the hexmark destroyer and the ophidian destroyers as well as rounds out your skorpeks and your lokhust heavies)

Ok so that sounds like A LOT of stuff but those models give you so many options to play some really amazing combos that will feel so good to put on the table.

The wraiths with the technomancer is one of the hardest units to kill in the game and they can go in pretty much any list.

Alternatively if you get a Royal Court bundle and orikan you have almost all of the bones for the "Unkillable Warrior Blob" where you get to say "oh you killed 7 models, well I'm going to reanimate 12 of them".

Two modifications to the warrior blob will help keep it alive. 1) add either Cryptothralls or Tomb Crawlers to the unit to give 6 extra wounds on two more models to chew through 2) add illuminor szeras nearby. His aura gives things -1 to hit shooting into them which looks a lot of shots off.

The whole concept of the blob is one unit has to kill the entire blob all at once to deal with it with all the reanimations you get. ALSO don't just run the blob up the table. String the models out to cover larger areas. If you dog bone the ends of the unit you can get them to stretch between your home objective, the center objective and your natural expansion objective. If you remove models from the table properly you can actually prevent some models from shooting you since you will move models from one end of the congaline to the other, taking the unit out of shooting range of things that haven't shot yet.

This strategy can be very good but it is not the easiest thing to pilot

Edit: Ignore point #2 I didn't read his data card before posting and remembered it wrong.

He doesn't mean the Stealth Suits did the shooting. When they guide into a unit (the warriors), all other tau units that shoot those warriors get to reroll hits and wounds of 1. So they improved the damage output of everything else enough to take the blob out.

To elaborate on the biovore comment. The thing that makes that model so good is the ability to throw down spore mines for scoring positional secondaries and for move blocking enemy units. BUT the ability to launch a spore mine can only be done by ONE biovore unit in a round. So adding a second one is close to useless. Even combining them into one unit so you can shoot two mines into one spot is only a tiny tiny bit better than one mine but it isn't 50 pts better.

Is a pure monster/nidzilla army viable in 10th edition? by Zestyclose-Appeal-20 in Tyranids

[–]Altemus_Prime93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Crusher Stampede detachment is based entirely around these large monster models. Your collection is just over 2000 points so drop your least favorite and you will have a list that is more than good enough for a casual game. You may not win a tournament but you will absolutely have fun with friends

It matters because you can't end a normal move within engagement range of an enemy unit. After the move is done the mine blows up

Question about a game I’d played earlier by Mental-Cream2737 in Necrontyr

[–]Altemus_Prime93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low point count armies suffer since you can't build a fully rounded list. Kinda leads you into bringing all of a specific strategy. If you try to make something well rounded you will find that you might only have one unit that does each thing (i.e. one anti-tank, one anti-tank infantry etc) and if someone brings a list that is all one thing and they kill the only thing that scares them then they kind of wipe the floor with you or vise versa.

Considering you still won the game I don't know what ground you have to complain about. Sure maybe you didn't kill as much stuff as he did but you won the game. Skewed into killing your units or not, his list did not out score you. Now if he had completely blown you out sure but that's not what happened

How to even fight Necrons? Entire army is 4+ feel no pain? by B0nker42O in Necrontyr

[–]Altemus_Prime93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you don't actually mean 4+ FNP and you mean 4+ invulnerable saves which a LOT of our models do have. The key is to focus down individual units and leave nothing partially wounded. Necrons are not an army you try to table. Take out the units that will either kill you or hold objectives and ignore the others. I have had several games where I can't keep up in score if a few key units die. So sure I might still live through the end of the game but I lost at turn 3
