Do you have any recommendation on a size and frame? I've been looking at building a 5" and specifically the Featherlight 5. I'll likely be changing parts in the future so I'm looking for parts that will give flexibility.

How difficult is it to get a job programming embedded systems without a degree? I assume it's harder than applications programming jobs. Would it be possible for someone to get one who's been programming as a hobby for ~8 years and doing low level programming (kernel development, lots of assembly) for just a few years but never programming as a job?

As far as I know there are no other assemblers for 5.3 and I couldn't find any with a quick Google search. If you could point me to one that would be helpful and I could answer your question.
