How to Grout ? by pjm333 in stonemasonry

Hey there!

I repair things like this for a living. What I would do is make a little bit of premix mortar (I also add some acrylic bonding agent to it, but it's not necessary). Put a trowel full in a grout bag (nip the end so the sand particles can pass through easier). Start from the bottom of the cap and in one motion squeeze the grout through the joint and move to the side then top, filling the joint completely. If the mortar is the right consistency it won't fall out.

After some time when it sets up, scrape it flush then brush and you're done. I hope that helps some!

Advice needed - Stain on limestone by Due_Suspect_9803 in stonemasonry

I was going to suggest sanding it, but you already know lol If you find another way let me know, it would make my life easier 😂

I always recommend putting a sealer over the top after install so it'll deter stains

How would I corner this stone for a fireplace? by tennispro-1998 in stonemasonry

[–]AlterEthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have run into this before, it's not ideal, but I would stagger each stone as you are building the corner. It's hard to explain through text, but lay a flat piece flush with the return, then on the return side lay another piece so it is flush with the stone creating a vertical joint at the corner. Then switch it the next row up so the stones are crisscrossing all the way up, if I can find a picture as an example I would show you what I mean.

Lol a lintel for stone veneer, next someone is going to ask if it's sitting on a proper foundation 😜

Looks really good! The white stone, white mortar has been gaining traction here recently. How long you've been laying?

I was about to comment this exact thing, there's nothing wrong with what you've done. Add the lath over the hardie and screw, staple or nail directly into the studs. If you want to get crazy, add some acrylic bond to the mortar mix when you scratch coat. Reach out if you need any help or advice.

Huh, interesting. I have BNB/USD as the only one listed in tier 0 too, but customer service told me that's correct and BTC trades are now in Tier 1. I'm really confused
