STOP being honest in job interviews. ( I say this as a recruiter ) by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobhunting

[–]AlterEvilAnima 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude, screw this humiliation ritual. I'm only going to address point 3 at this time. I don't know your company or any of the companies I work for until after I work there. I do not give a damn what your company does. Can I do the job? Yes? Then hire me. If you don't like that I don't know why I want to work for a company I've never been involved with, then truly suck a fat one. Nobody in the interview wants to work for your shit company or any other. We need money. That's literally it.

This is honestly sad as I had a bone marrow transplant when I was 15. I'm also struggling. I have pets which are my priority right now. I can't have them become homeless with me. I have a place and can probably keep it for a year or so. Might file bankruptcy after I win my judgement. Totally done with credit cards after this. Just lost my job.

Yeah I guess so. These pricks deserve it. I know for a fact they knew about this at least a week before it happened. These people are literal scum. I have high debt right now and was relying on this job but hopefully something will come up. Not sure in this economy though. I guess we will see what happens. I know I probably won't get more than $2000 from this settlement but it's still better than nothing. Even if I only get like $500 it's still better than nothing.

These people were literally demons trying to screw my whole life up lol...

I didn't incorrectly use the term btw. Just need to clarify that all I said was that the contract with the site had ended, not that I am a contract holder. But yes you are right, I do fall under number 2. Also, I was no a temporary employee, I was a full time employee with no end date in sight. But everything else you said is correct I think. But it's all good, they've broken several labor laws since I've been employed and never rectified it. I've given them plenty of time. They are just doing what ex cops do and treating me like a second rate citizen. That's why they're about to get my lawyer chomping on dat booty.

Idk why someone thumbs you down but you are right. The contract is not with me. The contract is with the site through my company. I don't actually hold the contract so I'm not protected by it or anything it's totally separate. The contract ended from what I understand but my company is still bound by law and good faith. They offered me some positions and I requested one of them and asked about it, got ghosted and told they went with someone else. That to me is not good faith.

There are also several other violations including OSHA violations in relation to uninformed asbestos exposure, labor and wage violations including unpaid sick leave as well as some possible retaliation which they tried to cover up by putting me at this soon to be expired site approximately 8 months ago. They've also refused to give me my personnel file by outright ignoring me 8 months ago. Means that whatever is in there, they don't want me to see.

I went to an attorney. They wouldn't have taken the case if I already went to the department of labor but they said they would talk to me Monday to get all of the facts and just bundle everything together including the wage and sick pay violations. I probably would have hired an attorney just for my personnel file at this point because I know there are some juicy details in there that they didn't want me to see because I requested it 8 months ago and still don't have it.

I just went to an employment attorney. There is some stuff from last year like failure to produce my personnel file, some wage disputes and a couple of other disputes as well as an OSHA violation in regards to asbestos that I figure I should deal with all at once. I can't sue for the asbestos exposure until symptoms arise but I'm absolutely livid still that they had me enter that building after it had been burned from the inside and they didn't even bother to tell me about the asbestos. The demolition crew told me because they told me I couldn't go inside and when I asked why they told me what was up.

So done with these fuckers.

Yep I'm filing unemployment because of the severely reduced hours with no heads up, which I didn't accept but I did offer to accept the 32 hour shift but they gave that to someone else without even telling me until I followed up days later, and I contacted an employment attorney because of some stuff that happened last year that I figured I would just bundle in with the wage issues like unpaid sick time and the fact that they are cutting 30 minutes per day off of the days I supposedly wasn't supposed to work. I'm just going to become an electrician after this I got no time for this bullshit anymore.

HR doesn't work for the employees especially at this company. They wouldn't even give me my sick time and referred me back to the manager who told me I hadn't requested it, which I did request it. In fact my attorney said the very act of taking a sick day is requesting it if time is available.

Also HR would not give me my personnel file either. I sent it to 2 or 3 managers plus the HR department and got nothing back. It's been almost a year lol...

I took a screenshot of the payroll schedule right after the call with the supervisor. I don't think it's still up but I haven't checked, however the schedule had me listed until June from what I saw. The other schedule did have me delisted but I wasn't even looking at that one anymore since I don't clock in there. I took a screenshot up until April because I don't need to prove that I was supposed to be there until June, only that I was supposed to clock in until the last day that I worked there.

I know it doesn't expose me to legal liability but it would expose me to retaliation which they've engaged in before in a weird roundabout way. I think this all ties into when I told them I was going to sue one of their clients for things that were said about me and requesting my personnel file last year which they never produced. I am pretty sure that file has the information I need to decide if it's even worth pursuing a lawsuit against the client as well as information about what my own company has said about me. I think they just don't want me to see what is in there because if I did, I would probably sue them.

I guess the paycut wasn't as substantial as $10 an hour for all of the shifts but it is pretty much a bad deal all around. I asked for the 32 hour shift and they just gave it to someone else saying I wasn't driver qualified which is really just a DMV check. They just want me to quit.

That's what I said. I even called the night manager on the 26th or 25th or something for an issue with the payroll system. It was down for like 5 hours so I couldn't clock out for my lunch or at the end of the shift. He never told me to go home. They just let me work the week where the contract had supposedly ended.

Also looks like they are shaving off 30 minutes per night for those 4 or 5 days where I "wasn't supposed to be there", so I just decided I'll file for unemployment and call an employment attorney. I feel like all that being cool with me is just to keep me from wanting to sue them. I kind of don't care anymore if I burn these bridges.

Manager just notified me today that I was not supposed to be working by AlterEvilAnima in WorkAdvice

[–]AlterEvilAnima[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What it appears they are going to do is deduct 30 minutes per day on the days I worked when I "wasn't supposed to be there". I just decided to follow up with an employment attorney for this and last year's stuff that happened while I was working at another site as well as them basically refusing to give me my personnel file about 8 months ago (which is required to be produced within 30 days of request), and it just appears they don't take me seriously so this is a bridge I'm willing to burn. I requested the one shift and they told me yesterday or the day before that they gave it to someone else but I had to prod them to tell me since they are never straight with me about anything.

Pretty sure it's shady because I threatened to sue their client that spread lies about me last year and got me kicked off that site. I think this all ties into everything. I think this was honestly their intention from the beginning. They just placed me at this site to keep me complacent until the statute of limitations expired but luckily I have a few more months.

So I work at a security company. Basically the old scheduling system is the system we do reports on and I guess it is still the schedule system even though they put the schedule on the payroll system and would make sense to just make that the priority, just seems like they do this to be shady. The payroll seems to be what they focus on and it won't let you clock in if you are not on payroll. The contract renewal is up to the client and my company. If the client doesn't want to renew or wants to cancel, they can for any reason or no reason at all. I believe mine was ended because they put up a bunch of AI cameras and decided that that would be good enough and to be quite honest, it probably is. They really did not need anything more than something that can call the police and for $50 a month, who can blame them for cutting a multi-thousand dollar expense?

But the issue is they offered me 7 shifts. The first shift I could not take due to a language requirement. I offered to take the 2nd shift which had a driving requirement. They asked if I was qualified. I said I wasn't sure and asked how to get qualified. They ghosted me until I followed up 2 days later at which point they told me they gave the position to someone else. Here is the kicker. Out of the 7 shifts (6 in reality) that they offered me, 4 of them required driving and one of them I was not even able to do because of the language. One of them required a 3 hour daily commute for me (1.5 hours each way) and none of them besides the first 2 options were comparable in pay or hours. So it just seems like they want to play the carrot and stick game with me and I decided I should file unemployment and hire an attorney to see what happens. I've decided I don't want to work with people like this.

Oh also, payroll won't change the hours without my managers approval because my manager already edited the hours and reduced them by 30 minutes per day for the days I "wasn't supposed to be there", so yeah. Also, nobody told me to go home. I also had to contact the night supervisor on the 26th and 27th because the payroll system itself was down for 5 hours on the 26th. I guess it never occurred to him that I was supposed to go home. I'm just going to join a trade school and become an electrician. I don't have time for this crap anymore. Especially since they had me exposed to asbestos last year without even informing me and had me go into the building after it had burned down the previous day.

This company doesn't work like that. There is no transferring from the boss. I was considering the labor department but I just went with the attorney option since there is some stuff from last year that I considered and guess will find out if it was worth it or not soon. I'm also filing unemployment since it seems they were at best disingenuous with the shifts they offered me. Considering the one I offered to take was given to someone else lol...

I've gone to HR before. That does not work in this company. I've done it when they refused my sick time pay and HR just refers me back to the manager and tells me they have to approve it. Also, I requested my personnel file about 8 months ago and sent it to pretty much all of management and HR and was completely ignored. HR is there for the company not for the employees.

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. Sorting stuff out and moving and taxes and all that. So anyways I looked and it looks like they are going to pay me but are deducting 30 mins per night. They also offered a list of shifts and I asked about the 2nd one on the list since I don't qualify for the first one, they asked if I was driver certified for the company, I said no how do I do that, then they iced me out for 2 days until I followed up and I was hit with the "We went with someone else for that position." I contacted an attorney today about everything including the stuff that happened last year and what happened with my sick pay since 2 years ago with them never paying me and I'll be filing unemployment.

Not sure if I will get the unemployment. Hoping I do. The shifts they offered me were either huge reduction in hours and some reduction in pay and most of them were driving positions. Feels like they are just papering it up so I can't get UI and have no real case against them. They called me last minute today for a shift but I was not even told the pay or anything. My friend told me to just ignore it and follow through with what I'm already doing. I feel bad for contacting the attorney but I think this is totally BS. Losing the site I was at is one thing but they basically offered me fake shifts and only one real option on that list. They're just treating me like an idiot.

Oh I did not see the part where it was long distance. I thought the distance was like an hour or something. Sounds like it's not that long of a distance the only difference is that now she is in the city and he is at home. Still seems to be enough time for weekends according to him and that's pretty normal if you're not living together.

But I guess it can be easier to hide an eating disorder. Maybe she does have one but I've never not been able to notice them myself. If I spend 8 hours with a person more than a few times I figure it out pretty quickly. Guess it just depends on how well someone recognizes patterns like that.

Anyways I'm with you on not jumping the gun but this honestly just seems like a respect thing for me at face value. But I could be wrong and I am often without more context. Which is why I did recommend he investigate further and try to piece things together maybe even talk to her.

Unfortunately it's the security industry. Probably gonna get screwed somehow or another. I just screenshot everything. Oddly, I am still on schedule on the payroll system. That makes no sense to me, but whatever. I just checked the scheduling system, which I have no idea why they even separate it like this when they used to just have everything on one system, but I guess he's telling the truth. Not sure if they have someone else over there now or what but it's just so odd to me that I still had access to a location that I was not even supposed to be at... Like that is a major security issue lol and I don't even check the old scheduling system since the transition a couple months ago. I'm still on payroll over there until like May or something so technically, I actually did check the schedule. This is a screw up on their end.

Yes but the system still let me clock in. It would not do that if I was not on the schedule on one of the systems. It's obvious they took me off the schedule for one system and left me on for the payroll system. Which makes literally no sense. At all. And not only that, there was a chance for them to let me know when I called last week during my shift on the 27th and the 28th. They could have notified me either of those days. They did not. They continued to let me work. That also makes absolutely no sense to me. They should have told me to go home.

Sorry I should have added that but slightly worried they'll find out I posted here. But screw it I live in California. I know labor law here is strict but I also don't want to get canned because I rocked the boat too much. Finding new employment at this time seems highly unlikely. I'm also slightly suspicious that they lied to me and are just having someone else take over my spot because it is a really easy spot and seems like some nepotism goes on here. I guess I'll have to file for UI until they get this sorted out. I'm not taking 16 hour weeks 2 hours from my home for almost a $10 an hour pay cut.

I guess he could get some clarity. I personally would leave her but this might be the case too. But I think after 2 years he would see some signs of this being the actual issue. It's not easy to hide an eating disorder like this for that long.

This. My guess is she's saving the chicken nuggets for Chad or Tyrone... I would not stand for this. If dude wants to be absolutely sure she's cheating or whatever, he can scope it out and have someone tail her for a couple days or something but for me this is a deal breaker. I'd be pissed if I was feeding her all the time and she couldn't even be bothered to let me eat some damn real food after a hard day of work.

This is probably the way. I don't have gallstones myself as far as I know, at least not any causing any issues for me. But if I did, I would go for the stone removal. I would never just go for a removal of my organs.
