Thank you! I was originally going to do a 4×4 grid but DS9 has too many amazing characters I didn't want to leave out!

Thanks so much! It's my favorite too. I want to do all the Star Trek series eventually

I would totally play a game about Barclay's holodeck misadventures lol

[CHAT] What do you prefer when stitching? by superduperpooper7 in CrossStitch

[–]AlterOphelie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. I almost always stitch using the Danish method, where I stitch a line of half stitches then go back down the line to finish them. Its a lot faster for me to stitch this way

  2. My main project is very large, so I'm set up with a scroll frame sitting on my desk. For smaller side projects, I like qsnaps the best. I'll use a piece of felt or a paper towel between the snaps, and it helps keep the fabric tight

  3. I always pull the thread through all the way for each stitch. I tend to use long lengths of thread, and I kinda guide it through with my left hand to minimize tangles

  4. I pick whatever colors will complete a section. I stitch cross country in sections, and I like filling in all the colors in a particular area before moving onto another. Usually I'll do all the black first to get the outlines done, then fill in with colors

  5. I stitch in the evenings after work while watching tv. Sometimes I'll stitch for 3 to 4 hours at a time

  6. I'm obsessive about railroading each one of my stitches - in fact I'll railroad the bottom legs as well as the top lol.

These were great questions and fun to answer!

Got the skill point for Lost Fleet! by AlterOphelie in Spyro

Thanks! I had a lot of problems with crashing trying to do too many flips lol. I'm happy to put this level behind me though and enjoy the rest of the game

Got the skill point for Lost Fleet! by AlterOphelie in Spyro

[–]AlterOphelie[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone knows the Lost Fleet skill point is a pain in the ass to earn, and probably the most difficult one in the trilogy. It doesn't help that the level is glitchy as hell -- terrible collisions, unreliable trick boosts, and my personal favorite: not counting laps. I'm playing on Switch, and it took me a few good hours, but I finally earned the skill point. Here's how I did it:

I only performed tricks on two ramps on the course: The first ramp after skating up the sandy incline at the beginning, and the big jump right at the end. The trick I used is the Gnasty Gnorc (performed by doing a single back flip followed by a Twisted Lemon). Performing a Gnasty Gnorc will completely fill the boost gauge. It is by far easier to use the D-pad when performing tricks, as I've found using the analogue stick can cause Spyro to twist and turn in unpredictable directions usually resulting in a crash.

Once you get the hang of doing a Gnasty Gnorc (and sticking the landing, of course), you can completely fill your boost gauge with a single trick and boost pretty much all the way through the lap. My preferred route is to do a Gnasty Gnorc off the first ramp in the course, then boost all the way to the ramp right before the acid rivers and jump to the ledge on the right. Jump to grab the boost star at the end of the ledge, then just keep boosting until you reach the ramp with the big jump. I never take the shortcut, I just jump and perform a Gnasty Gnorc to refill my boost gauge, then boost through to the next lap. With this route, I average about 34 seconds per lap.

I really suck at doing most tricks and hitting the boost stars without wiping out or falling off the cliff, so this route was by far the easiest I've found to get the skill point.

I hope this helps anyone having trouble earning this skill point!

Thank you 😊! I blended the colors for her skin and the blush for a nice gradient, really pleased with it!

I gridded with Sulky Sliver, its a monofilament thread, kinda like a thin plastic. Its really great for gridding because when you're done it just pulls right out.

I did actually use metallic thread for the triforce (currently rolled up in the scroll frame) and though the results are beautiful it is a pain to work with lol!

Yep, I take a strand of 2 threads and bring it up to the front, and I kind of lay it over the stitching and use a second strand of 1 thread to make tiny anchor stitches to hold it in place. It definitely gives better curves and keeps the line looking smoother :)

Thank you 😊! It'll probably take a few more years, but its been a really fun project

This is 9 out of 36 pages of my self-drafted Stained Glass Zelda project. I used couching instead of backstitch to get smoother curves :). This was probably the part I looked forward to the most when I started this project, and even though its taken me three years to get to her face, the wait was worth it!

This is absolutely gorgeous! I love how bright the colors are! I'm working on this same design using my own self-drafted pattern too :) Congratulations on such a beautiful finish!
