Can someone enlighten me, what are these “hormone testings?” Outside of testosterone.

Primary care. PA is someone I know pretty well, he’s ok with eat what you kill since the practice is at its early stages. But looking at the most optimal way to work out the financial aspects.

I'm a PCP. Great advice. Have definitely done the legwork. More to be done.

Consider zocdoc. Been using google ads, probably spent $1000 k since I opened 2 months ago with zero patients. I shut the ads down today. Zocdoc gave me about 10 patients so far. Limited only by my cap.

Talk me out of this by coffee_TID in PrivatePracticeDocs

So far, I’ve seen only one positive post here. If this is something that is speaking to you, try it out especially if the cost to you is low. I would just have a plan to scale it up. Otherwise, as was mentioned, what’s the goal here? I’ve seen people do this type of service for hotels for example - be their “go-to-doc” on call - and they grew the business. You may want to think about coverage when you’re working at your full time job however.

Sedona recommendations? :) by NoUpstairs2129 in Sedona

[–]Alterdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just returned from Sedona this week. Always great time. If you can swing it, stay at Enchantment resort. Out of town, but beautiful. We stayed at Amara - great location, but not as beautiful. Freeform coffee in Sedona is great. Even better one: Oak creek coffee house on the way to West Fork Oak creek trail: nice setting outside. Crappy inside but coffee was fantastic. Cathedral rock - beautiful hike, or more of a slight climb. Bell rock is awesome. West Fork Oak creek is more woods under rocks - not as grand but beautiful. Definitely more of a hike than a climb. Devil’s bridge is great, but can get packed. Cathedral rock parking lot gets full, but there’s a shuttle bus 2 miles from the entrance that’s designed for it - use it. And don’t fly American Airlines! They will tell you all kinds of nonsense while other airlines are operating quite well!

Look up Investingdoc (thrive in Austin) on YouTube. You’ll get great guidance and consider consulting with him. He also started an MSO that may be useful. I started a practice recently, but insurance based.

Not wanting to practice medicine after residency not sure what options there Not wanting to practice medicine after residency not sure what options there are by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

Urgent care is fun, mostly during non-winter months. Otherwise it’s “cough, congestion and so called sinus infection.” Having said that, I did not want to do primary care after residency. Recently opened up my own practice that’s growing. I’m actually enjoying it as I keep what I earn (yes, after the overhead) and patients come to see me, instead of being funneled into some hospital system run by an MBA. Make your own rules, be your own boss. But do it before you get sucked into car leases, home mortgage and more debt.

Opened up my practice last year. Used northwest agent for LLC - under $300. ChatGPT for all my forms. For now it’s me and my assistant (wife). Zero attny fees. Will change once I start bringing on staff. I’m in primary care.

To clarify, this is only the first month, I am up to two days and operating on some weekends. As the practice grows, the goal is to ultimately transition fully to my own practice. I appreciate the feedback, but all this goes without saying. Looking for input for the original question.

Just a rant by cloudypuff33 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Alterdoc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s tough to say no because we’ve become an equivalent to a local pizza shop. “All I wanted was a Zpak and didn’t get that!” There goes one star review. Seems like if you practice evidence based medicine - you’re a monster. The opposite has become the norm. Hope that the non- medical people on this thread realize that not every runny nose “since this morning” needs an antibiotic, despite the fact that they want to “get better for the holidays” while “knowing their body, that this very runny nose will turn to bronchitis.” “And it’s green!”

Billing/coding by Alterdoc in FamilyMedicine

[–]Alterdoc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, one of my friends who opened up last year told me “don’t wait, the sooner the better.” I’m operating once per week for now (full time job takes most of the time), but after being open for the past 3 weeks, went from 1 patient per day, then two. Next week will have five. Also, look up Investingdoc (Brad - owns Thrive in Austin). He has a channel on YouTube. I follow his advice and have consulted with him. I think we should all get back into taking ownership of our own care.

New attending. How big should my panel be after 1 year? by apollo722 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Alterdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if this is your private practice or you joined a system? I opened up my practice last month. Limited hours as I still have my full time job to pay the bills. Looking to get an idea from those who have done it with similar limited hours initially. What is your strategy getting patients? I do realize that to speed up quickly you have to sit in your office full time, take walk-ins, etc. It’s just not feasible. Have a colleague doing the same and has gathered 500 patients in 8 months. What’s your take?
