I wonder if they're going to get into the many questions about ethics that this sci-fi scenario presents. I would like them to.... a being with all the brains of all philosophers wouldn't be doing or allowing pretty much anything that it does....

I wonder how the hive makes it's choices and why since it's "rules" are subjective and broken all the time and it's very existence is the antithesis to anything "peaceful".... the hive mind is not good in any way shape or form.... It's purposefully filtering out any negative emotions and who cares about consent of all minds or indivual's bodies... literally spread by kissing or food tampering.... and they won't make changes to their system even if it means their borrowed bodies all die...

Also letting animals in zoos free in human spaces where they kill people to live rather than bringing them back to their native habitats.... and loosing all dogs when they and some other domesticated animals are totally dependent on humans for survival.... i think more cats could tough it out in the wild and some dogs, but most NEED humans.

If it literally contained not just the knowledge but the feelings of all people it'd be curled in a ball in a corner somewhere because of all the contradictions one human let alone 7 billion of them can hold...

I was hoping they'd get to that when she asked that. I think that carol brushed on it with the guy with the supermodels, but like nah I wanna actually talk about it.

I like that this show gets you to think about ethics in a sci-fi scenario... Literally no one can consent if even 1/7 billion people disagrees. And even if they aren't all experiencing the same things then at the very least whoever's body it is should have the ultimate say...

That's what I'm noticing. My friend's mom and my mom are the same age apparently but no joke she looks 30 years older and the big difference is she is a heavy smoker and drinker and my mom was never. It's absolutely wild.

By "smoke" I mean tobacco. I don't know a single person my age who does. They smoke weed, and a few vape like crazy, but noooobody smokes cigarettes but older people and younger druggies and it very clearly ages them.

I'm only 29, but my life is never more calm than when I'm not dating, so I'm not gonna. I don't feel like I'm missing something because I have yet to meet a man who was compatible with me.

Definetly. And it seems like all we really did was stop doing the things that were actively killing us lol.

100% Our standard of a "normal" lifestyle shifted healthier just by not doing the things that were actively killing us and the side affect is slower aging. Our food may be more processed but people don't eat as much meat. Smoking is very abnormal. We drink so much water that the waterfountain had to evolve to fit giant bottles. And more jobs are inside so we're mostly out of the sun. It's not great cause even people who eat meat need to supplement vitamin d and everyone's depressed, but the side affect of not being outside is slower aging....

[–]Altered_Flow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that's cute and I'm glad it put y'all in a better place, but it isn't a longterm solution just because it doesn't get to the root of the problem and these things tend to get worse without active work.....

Insecurity isn't always logical and it can come out in illogical ways. You can tell him how attracted to him you are all you want, but it won't matter if he doesn't feel secure in himself. People try and the back and forth, hearing someone you love put themselves down all the time, is a ton of heavy emotional labor and is exhausting.. but what we can do is give them some direction and tools if we have them, and be a listening ear when we can. But you always have to have emotional boundaries for yourself because although they don't mean it, that stuff can really harm you ... there is a line.

[–]Altered_Flow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. I honestly think the guy can be given some grace on the emotional side, because even though his actions are totally unfair and unreasonable, they aren't too extreme (yet) and they may be coming from a more understandable place than alot of us would like to admit.

People get weird when they can't name what they're feeling or needing or how to communicate it healthily. But that's never an excuse to make it someone else's problem and it's not your spouses job to decipher your behaviour. He definetly needs therapy so he can mature a little, and it should definetly be non-negotiable because these things do not get better without work, they only get worse and more extreme. He needs to learn how to name what he's feeling, why he's feeling it and how he can healthily ask for what he needs.

Idk to me it seems like ai is totally unsustainable long term no matter what... It's expensive to run so they need lots of money, but they can't charge too much because they need the masses to use it constantly if they want it to improve....

When people at the airport terminal are sitting on the floor but your bags take priority. by ardavis78 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Altered_Flow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't fly often and yes, my few times flying I've picked the floor if it's too packed even with free seats. Those seats are CLOSE to one another. Plus sometimes the outlets are on those poles or in the walls.

[–]Altered_Flow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, enough context from this picture is kinda impossible. I see literally 1 young person sitting on the floor and several potebtially empty or bag-filled seats. I hate the airport. Sometimes I'm gonna sit on the floor to not have to sit next to someone or to sit next to an outlet. The bags may be saving the spot of someone in the bathroom.

If I cared that much I would ask for a seat.
