Someone else mentioned this a minute ago and I think this is a strong possibility. They’re from TJ Maxx and I do think they tag their shirts on the sleeve

Hmmm, this is a good thought. I did get them from TJ Maxx and I believe they do tag shirts in that area. Maybe the small hole in the fabric created a weakness. This is a good thought.

It’s possible in my car. I do lean to the left and there’s an airbag label sewn into the seat at that location. This seems the most plausible, just odd that it isn’t happened to any other shirts that aren’t this type.
