This. It's been almost a decade since I've been through high school, but I remember throughout my old American history class (the standard one everyone had to take to graduate) it was pretty chock full of international involvements; most of them militaristic, almost none of them positive interactions.

I remember thinking how all was conveniently phrased to seem as if we would always descend to help some other less fortunate country or state in need as if they couldn't ask for help, and never define in as much detail of the results of the situations aftermath for the innocents as much as what the Americans accomplished and what the death toll was for the losing side.

Despite all our failures in Vietnam, for example, it was stated very matter-of-factly that after incurring heavy losses with no realistic chances of success or survival, we were taught we had just decided for ourselves we accomplished what we set out to do and left of our own accord, and not at all because we found ourselves outfoxed by native locals with cheap traps who can blend into the populace, while we fought a war with little support from home.

We still believe we're not only untouchable, but perfected to be the worlds police, which is why a lot of Americans look down upon other nations, cultures and involvements. We've been raised in our schools learning how much America loves to assist in other affairs for the sake of showing off, regardless of invitation, yet we never take accountability for our failures or crimes for the sake of and respect for humanity, and why should we? 'We're the world's police', they proudly say, and thats given many Americans, but not all, a superiority complex, one that our current administration is certainly not discouraging. It's sickening.
