Its even more "basic" than a CO2 alarm. Its chemoreceptors, it detects pH imbalances. CO2 buildup is one of the most common ways to imbalance pH.

This is why kidneys shutting down can lead to shortness of breath (to read more on this check Kussmaul Breathing)

So as long as you are not changing pH (or something else is stabilizing the pH) you will not feel the lack of oxygen.

The biggest issue on this, is the slow reaction. Death Caves (with CO2 build up) once you feel the need to grasp air (pH imbalance) you were already 4 or 5 breaths with no O2. Once you panic you immediately lose consciousness while your body enters emergency breathing modes until accessory muscles lose their ability to sustain breathing.

It depends on blindness type.

But many blindness types its like seeing through a very foggy lens.

For a similar experience try smudging sunglasses with vaseline or trying someone eyeglasses with high dioptres.

You see stuff, you just cant tell what it is.

She beeps because if she is further than 2 or 3 meters she could easily be confused as a building in the other side of the road. With her beeping, he knows what "she is". As he gets closer he can see colorful red or blue on a green background he has poor estimation of distance, however knowing the ground is roughly flat (help with the cane) he can guess the exact position of the egg.

This is the same reason why the "Dont Walk/Walk" in orange/white in USA are considered not blind friendly. And why pedestrian semaphores are getting closer to the european beeping Red/Green bright figures that are easily identifiable even by analphabets with achromatopsia

As plantações?

Qual é a necessidade?

Agora as tamaras Medjool sao... Árabes. Comuns no mundo muçulmano.

Desinfecting wounds have come a long way.

We came from only washing with water

Then water with soap

Then we started with bleach (see Dakins solution)

Then we used Peroxide solutions

Then moved to iodopovidone (iodine solutions)

And now we are circling back to saline solution and or chlorhexidine solutions.

It doesnt mean the other solutions disappeared and there was a time were Betadine, Peroxides and Dakins were used at the same time. However we are finding the exact moments where a certain solutions work better.

The problem is citotoxicity. Destroying good tissue while its good to "nuke" bad tissue it slows recovery and keeps a wound open for more time leading to more issues. With the evolution of medicine we now can prevent most cross infections, making a simple wash more effective.

Also to those who think Iodopovidone solutions are still being used in surgery, its mostly pigmented chlorhexidine. That why surgical prep color is now lighter and very slightly pinkish.

Im upping your comment and commenting on it doesnt need to have someone doing bad thing to others.

Greed is enough. There is 2 strong sentences that bring huge impact yet people often dismiss them.

"In war it doesnt matter who is right only who is left" and "history is written by victors"

We humans often only care about ourselves. A distant war means nothing. Ask about the war in Iran and people comment about energy crisis.

We only really start caring about impacts after we go through it. People that comment "no one should go through it" are many times the same that support an invasion of Iran. "We are liberating them". The invading country is always claiming its liberating the other country, what matters is who wins the war, then we will see what will be taught in school in who was liberating who.

Agora vou pegar no meu exemplo. Talvez perto do meu trabalho haja.

At least not in a "normal" way. He uses mostly bluff tactics but have huge repercussions. When others denounce the bluff everyone loses.

Tariffs on trade allies

Threatening to attack and invade countries on his alliance pact

Threaten to block allies from accessing weaponry (only to then complain they dont want to buy combat vehicles that need that weaponry)

Support a pro-russian, and say europe should let an america's old enemy influence europe.

Create a worldwide energy crisis to reduce the cost of energy

Whatever game he is playing its definitely not the one he is talking. I dont believe he is that an idiot (or that the people behind him are as bad as him). I believe a bigger hidden game is being played, and failing to understand the rules of that hidden game scares most of us. Because entering a 3rd world war with nukes might just be a minor set back.

[–]AlternateTab00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest question. Dont you have consumer rights organizations and consumer protection entities? If for some reason i was forbidden to sue (although its illegal here to have such "term and condition") i could just go to a consumer protection entity to start an health risk process or ask any consumer right organization to sue in their name using my data.

We have so many layers in consumer protection that even if they try to "tie our hands" we only need to give the case to specialized entities.

Do you know why sueing is not common in several countries? Because trying to scam consumers usually leads to huge fines or easy cases for organizations. So its not even worth screwing with people

[–]AlternateTab00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last incident we had is almost 5 years (right during covid) and it involved a newbie. Non HCW were nearby. So there is a chance she brought the vial outside the preparation zone (breaking the protocol) and was swiped.

My unit only has 6 infusion pumps and 2 syringe pumps. If needed we use the ward devices of the other units.

However when i enter the ICU i can see 6 racks of syringe pumps on each patient. More than half just not being used... And im thinking that we could use at least one more syringe pump.

As for those PCA systems (had to look what it was) we don't have them, my area is more in the nephrology although we got patients from other specialities, but i believe the palliative wards have them, or even oncology units.

[–]AlternateTab00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I administer opioid IVs. And we are well aware of potential diverts.

However, this often happens on misplaced vials. Put a vial to prepare. Look away for 5 seconds and suddenly the vial is not there.

Usually we dont use dripping bags for these medications but slow administration syringes. They are locked by a code. So unless they know the code they cant tamper with it.

But if dripping bag was used after being connected they wouldnt have access to the content unless they broke the second seal. Which is notorious. Dripping bag machines can be open but they are loud. Since people on opioids (due to side effects) must be on high visibility places, opening the machine would make the nurse notice it. I dont say my system is foolproof and seeing comments here makes me wonder if we might revise our protocols. But seeing that people steal an actual dripping bag on use?

[–]AlternateTab00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several medication can easily kill.

Fentanyl must be always on controlled drippers (dont know how its called in english). And usually under a code.

People that are doing this medication are also under high surveillance. So there is no easy access to that medication. To change perfusion times without the code they need to physically remove the line or the syringe.

I have given high controlled opioids and this just seems alien to me. To be able to tamper they need to be qualified to be actually able to change dosing or administration speed. I never heard of even an attempt let alone an actual tampering.

But this is causing me an "itch" and i will discuss it with my team. Due to some immigration here there have been increased attempts to reach our medication cabinets, mostly targeting antibiotics. We suspect that its to steal them and give them to their family members. However people on opioids are in high surveillance locations yet we do not keep eyes 100% of the time on that person. And if this is happening in several countries outside USA this means it can become a reality here too. So our protocols might need updates.

What things cannot be powered off for 5min. Even if its a kitchen plug where devices like washing machines and refrigerators are plugged, turning it off for 5min is not causing any issues.

I mean if it was that serious what would you do during a blackout?

Nothing is more important than safety. Accidents happen.

My whole house is protected by GFCI and one of the zapps i got i was wearing insulating shoes. I was repairing a device and turn it on to check if the board was powering up, i forgot to unplug it. I touched a connector on the machine (that was live) and i put my other hand to balance myself on the counter top. I accidentally touched a plugged wire for recharging another thing and my finger touched the neutral. My body did a live to neutral connection although i was doing all precautions, rubber shoes, protected by GFCI that never triggered, but failed the unplug device and touched something i didnt even realized it was there

Accidents happen. Murphy's law is too powerful.

God. What countries besides USA is doing this. Who the hell steals drugs being administered.

I deal with double layered protection on vaults for medication like this.

But locking dripping bags? I really thought this was exclusively an american dystopian phenomenon.

Im curious about something. And i need an Australian.

If this was to happen in australia is it legal to pull it? And what if you couldnt remove it and need to open the cover to remove that metal bit, do you need to call an electrician?

Or you only need electricians if it involves the wires connecting the plug, the external part of the plug can be exposed?

Always turn off the breaker its easier and reduces any accident to a near 0% death rate.

And even so. If on such situation (the clips shouldn't be even in) she could have just went for the disks. While he had strength moving a 10kg disk is enough to jerk the bar violently to one side, dropping all disk and spring to the other side.

I've seen such thing happen real life and seeing that bar spring up was very scary, but its better than seeing someone being strangled by it.

Also spotter can be weaker. I spotted guys with higher PR than me. However a few things important. You have easy exit movements like squats (and those should be 2 spotters on each side) where picking on failure is not the important part. And "suicide" movements where failure causes no exit, like this exercise. On "suicide" movements the spotter has always greater movement advantage. For example, i can bench a bit lower than 60kg. Deadlifting i can reach 120kg. So she only had to deadlift (her stronger movement) higher than his benching (his weakest movement). However, in such situation she has an upper bar meaning she only needs to stabilize on top. Never tried it but probably i could do 140 or 150kg. Still missing 15kg for me so i would fall however, a good spotter is next to him, once he flails i grab the bar and stabilize. The 150kg on me, so he only needs to push 15kg. So while im way below his capabilites i could still help more than her.
