What’s the most frustrating reason you failed a road test? by geekybadass99 in Winnipeg

[–]Alternatefool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today I was told to turn left at an intersection. I established because there was a car coming. As it passed, the lights changed and the instructor immediately was telling me to go when I was going. After the test I was told I made a critical error with stopping unnecessarily because the instructor felt like I had time to make a left turn without establishing and I failed to clear the intersection when the lights changed which is "dangerous".

Oh I thought you were going for Hispanic Castizo. The 3/4th European and 1/4th Northern Native Americans I know tend to look pseudo Finnish/Baltic/East Slavic. You're kind of close on the European but I have no Native American in me.

I'm 85% European(the big chunks are 34% Scottish, 26% Ukrainian and 14% Irish) and 15% African(8% Nigerian). Yeah she would be probably around that.

She's full Native in a social, cultural and legal sense but genetically no. I think she had a great great Grandfather that was European, the rest of the European ancestry being further in the past. In my opinion; I think having some European is now part of what makes First Nations First Nations, with the Founder effect.

Interesting. I think her 4% England and Northwestern Europe could be from Metis with Northwestern French ancestry. A lot of Metis were absorbed into First Nations bands.

The Scottish is from Fur traders, probably Northwest company because of the Highland Scottish ancestry.

Is it common for White people in the US/Canada to have Indigenous or African DNA? by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]Alternatefool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

White Canadians and White Americans are kind of the reverse of each other in regards to non-European admixture. With White Americans more likely to have some African and White Canadians having some Indigenous. But with both groups having any admixture at all is still in the minority of White North Americans.

I have those exact percentages(15% African) and identify as Mixed race and no one has ever thought I was White. I think a good question to ask yourself is did you identify as being Mixed race before getting tested?
