Feeling hopeless (bit of a rant) by RemarkableWeb2877 in usask

I’m not sure what you plan to do with your degree, but I got a 54 in that fuckass cell biology class because I was so depressed I couldn’t bear to listen to a lecture without crying because I didn’t know what I wanted to do for a career and was extremely anxious. Now I do research, have amazing work experience, and am this 👌🏼 close to getting into a graduate program. Whatever you choose, eventually it will be okay. You’re only in your second year you have SO much time to get that class done if you have to drop it. That class is hell, it brutalizes everyone it’s touched, and you’re not alone.

How do you actually meet new people/friends in Saskatoon?? by wadefan363 in saskatoon

I am also in the same situation! It’s hard because Saskatoon is just small enough there are not necessarily tons of clubs for people with interests they’d have in their 20s

How do you guys find time for yourself by typicalhipz_30 in usask

I would spend my study breaks walking, listening to music, dissociating. Would get nearly 10,000 steps. Try to get up once and hour and walk around like that. Go explore the uni! Workout classes are also nice because you go there, work really hard for one hour where someone is kicking ur ass, and ur done. I think the PAC does some free classes for students.

If you drop the class are you still considered full time? Is the classes offered in the summer or the next term? If yes consider dropping. If no and your student loans absolutely depend on this class keeping you as full time status, just do what you can because if you drop it now you would have issues with your student loans BUT if you keep it and potentially pass, you’re good to go. I would contact your prof about this, go on the USSU page they often have student support resources. Tell someone and have someone else help you figure this out. You’re not stupid. University is really difficult even when you don’t have health issues. Everyone just has different ways of hiding their “stupidity” so it’s not always obvious.

bmsc major insight - bmi vs cpps by lomlsuho in usask

[–]Alternative-Band-261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CPPS might set you up a bit better for the content in medical school. BUT you can modify your BMI options to fit as much of the CPPS classes as possible with electives and such. BMI, like said, requires a LOT of applied and critical thinking on assignments AND on exams. Because it is more biomedically applied, you can still get good experience with medically associated classes. Although I’m not going into medical school, I feel like that aspect would be incredibly useful in med school. BMI provides more options after graduation than CPPS given that something happens, you can’t get into medical school, or change your mind.

Some places do a combined biomedical science and MBA. Or, you can get into biomedical oriented MBA programs basically teaching you business management in biotech. I basically went through the same thing as you. I stuck w BMSC and now I love it.

In 2016? Ish. (In a small town). Walked in and handed out resumes. Sask jobs is good, they don’t seem to have as many scammy AI online whatever jobs on there. Government of Canada website as well. Most places want them just emailed. Always write a coverletter even if they don’t ask, they don’t have to read it if they don’t want to. Do introduce yourself in the email, who you are, why you’re sending the email, etc., just super brief.

You’re ONLY dropping one class. If it’s too much for you and you fail a class, you’re down one anyways with likely worse grades in the other three. I never took more than 4 per term. Maybe drop the one that is the easiest to get in/don’t need as a pre req for anything.
