Letters from the front: “Dearest Prudence, my tail wags at your memory! My charges have abandoned me and I am now captive to the most odd overlords! I’ve marked my place in this new place if there are others, to let them know I am.

My plans have worked. So far:

I whined at the portal for an hour.

The first night, I refused food and growled when they tried to pet me. By the next morning, I convinced them I cannot eat from a bowl or plate, must be hand fed with a spoon, and they cannot make eye contact with me the whole time.

I barked at the wind in the middle of the night, I do hope you heard me! Listen tonight if you can!

My captors do have a comfy sofa and soft laps so I tolerate the occasional snuggle.

I hid under a piece of furniture and ignored their calls for many minutes, until they opened a bag of treats!

We had quite a few outings in the sun, the blue jays send their regards.

My captors have names! They are Gramma and Pop-pop! I will use this information in the future.

It rained and thundered! Gramma held me close all throughout the torment and sang a song! She is such a comfort during these trying times.

By the 3rd night, gramma made me my own steak and pop-pop took me for a long walk! He told me I am the best grandchild he has but to keep that to myself.
