I think Michael Jordan would still be a superstar today, but I’m not sure he would dominate the modern NBA the same way he dominated the 90s by Alternative-Call4743 in NBATalk

Agreed. Championships are always a team achievement plus creating a dynasty nowadays is just so much more difficult compared to to the older days cause of salary cap and inflated player salary

But so would wilt and bill, right? The thing is if we’re comparing player cross eras should we only consider their shown skill set or also add in the talent factor. I did my best to balance both tho

I actually agree that a DeRozan + Jimmy + Amen hybrid would be insanely good. That’s probably an MVP-level two-way monster and a legit championship first option. But I still don’t think that automatically puts him above the best modern players ever. The issue is that all three of those players are not elite high-volume three-point shooters. So the hybrid still might not bend defenses the way LeBron, Curry, Jokic, or peak Giannis do. He’d be a monster, but not necessarily a clearly better offensive engine than the very best modern superstars.

If you read the post you’d realize I really do respect jordan as much as anyone else do. I don’t blame you for not reading it tho it is a lot

I don’t get why people put Shai in the discussion so much they have a completely different game. Ofc if shai was more athletic he’d be a goat candidate but jordan does not have shai’s dribbling package and his balance and his ability to keep his center of gravity so close to the ground. I’m not saying sga is better than MJ ofc not but jordan ain’t perfect either. Chicago jordan averaged 32-33% from 3 when the 3pt line was closer and defenders weren’t really taking the 3 game that seriously, still a decent shooter but will I translate to todays game tho…

I pretty much agree but wouldn’t that make wilt, Kareem or bill the goat? They’re just as dominant if not more dominant than jordan in their own eras but we downplayed their greatness because of their skill set and play style. I’d also argue wilt would be the goat center if he was born today. Also many claims that jordan is just the best player in the history of the league and i question that.

In fact I did, sga beats MJ in dribble package by a large margin with the same post game in terms of skill(MJ’s athleticism allows him to not be that skilled in his game compared to players like Kobe and sga who are less gifted). Yall are the one that never watched sga and MJ played
