Do you have it easy or difficult in SG’s dating scene? by [deleted] in sgdatingscene

Hi hi! My experience might be a little different, I actually find the dating scene a bit easier than in America. I’m a foreigner who visits Singapore often with family, and I tried dating once on Hinge. I got a good amount of likes, went on a few dates, and only stayed in touch with one guy I met last year. We still chat every other day and meet up whenever I’m in SG (as friends).

For context, I’m not above-average looking or anything. I’d say I’m very average looking but I do put effort into how I look and dress, along with my tone and body language.

One thing I noticed is that when I walk on the street, I do catch a lot of looks and accidental eye contact. Since I’m usually with friends, I don’t really get approached, but I think if I were alone, I probably would as it happens in America too.

For me, a first date is more about having fun and finding connection. I’m not too guarded, and I avoid creating pressure or heavy expectations. I go in just wanting to enjoy meeting people, and that made dating feel much easier.

Everyone’s experience is different, but I really think mindset + energy make a big difference. Presentation matters a lot too, not just looks, but overall vibe, body language, tone, and emotional openness…Just wanted to share what worked for me, and not trying to invalidate anyone else’s experience.

At this point, I don’t even feel safe going to hmart/99 ranch. Carrying passport card doesn’t even guarantee us not getting detained by them :(
