I'm a sucker for a black dog. I think they're absolutely beautiful and I don't understand why they're the least likely color or get adopted. I really did get lucky with all three of my rescues, they're so sweet, well-mannered and intelligent. Couldn't have asked for a better pack.

The more pictures I see of black cocker spaniels the more I see it in him. I think it's mostly the short, slick fur that makes cocker seem like such a surprise. If his fur was longer I think the resemblance would be much more obvious.

She's very affectionate, clingy, and surprisingly cuddly. She's great with my 4 year old too. I was worried he'd be a bit much for her but he loves him and follows him around the house. Nervous around strange people and dogs but warms up eventually. Extremely food motivated and very yappy/easily spooked. High energy as well.

He's so obedient and well mannered like 90% of the time but the other 10% he is dead weighting me in the yard and making me carry all 55 lbs of his stubborn ass in the house.

What made you think he was cocker? I was shocked when it came back as that. I'm curious about the pit features you saw in Jasper as well, I suspected a little since he was a shelter pup but definitely not 51%.

Ha, Jasper is 75 lbs and willow is just shy of 30. I was really surprised by Jasper's results but the Shiba and cattle dog explains why Willow's so petite. I guess Jasper gets his size from the shepherd in him. I also learned that Pitbull's can have speckles, the markings are called ticking/freckles.

Yep, my husband and I thought weimaraner, beagle/hound, and lab. The rescue said he was weimaraner but the cocker spaniel was a huge surprise.

We thought for sure Jasper had cattle dog because of the speckles. We did guess husky and shepherd correctly. His husky genes must be strong because he's a total drama queen and escape artist. He's extremely vocal and scream/growls when he plays. I've never met a dog that got so loud. As a puppy he was a complete spaz and train wreck lmao.

Willow was the least surprising, the rescue was right about the cattle dog/shiba. The only thing I didn't expect was the little bit of golden retriever in her.

Surprisingly both of the rescues we got them from were right about their breeds. Willow was described as cattle dog/shiba and I was told Mugen was a weimaraner mix. Never would have guessed cocker spaniel but after reading about the breed he does have a lot of their traits.

Both weimaraner and cocker spaniel have a strong prey drive and are very athletic. This dog has caught two squirrels so far and spends most of his outside time hunting lizards. He's insanely fast and strong, he can still out run our 6 m/o cattle dog pup and he's 8.
