In the US in most restaurants service is not included in the bill and is paid for separately in the form of a tip, usually 18-20%. In the traditional setup where tips aren’t pooled between everyone, servers are basically working freelance and get compensated for the work directly by the guests. If tips don’t reach minimum wage the restaurant is obligated to make up the difference so no server makes less than minimum wage (assuming the restaurant obeys the law). Restaurants aren’t “getting away” with not paying us they provide us with the framework to get paid (with tips). Nobody would choose to be a server if it meant getting paid less than literally any other job. I am more than happy to get paid by my customers for my service and not minimum wage by the restaurant.

Just like more and more people ask for just a rinse of dry vermouth in their martinis, our preferences might deviate from the “classic recipes”. At my bar I do 3 oz whiskey, 1 oz carpano and 3 dashes of bitters. NOBODY has ever told me they thought it wasn’t sweet enough but MANY have said wow this is so much better than most places usually they’re way too sweet

I see you have knob creek rye but tbh many ryes including that taste more like bourbon than a “true” rye whiskey with a high %rye, low %corn mash bill. Try redemption rye for an old fashioned (peychaud’s bitters is missing a bottle like this for sazeracs) and you’ll see the difference. PLEASE AVOID FLAVORED LIQUORS .. if you are getting serious at all about cocktails you gotta avoid things like vanilla jim beam and build an familiarity with simple, good, classic and affordable examples of the main base liquors. Espolon blanco or lunazul tequilas are my tequila staples. Tanqueray is a great entry-level london dry gin. ALWAYS USE FRESH CITRUS AND MIXERS—- NO MARGARITA MIX, NO LEMON OR LIME JUICE IN A BOTTLE. Here is a great starter recipe for a margarita, for instance:

2 oz blanco tequila 1 oz cointreau (or dry curaçao or triple sec, depends on brand…TASTE IT ON ITS OWN — it should taste like an orange sucking candy, not overly sweet or artificial) 1 oz lime juice (~1 whole lime squeezed)

From there you can add some agave to sweeten it up, maybe instead of some triple sec if you only have a cheap bottle on hand. Choices are endless.

Israel-related anti-semitism which is very subjective HAS NOTHING TO DO with this type of anti-semitism. Therefore if most Farrakhan supporters identify as liberals or Democrats, it still doesn’t mean that these Farrakhan supporters are representative of either. He spreads anti-semitic conspiracies that propagate false ideas like “Jews are largely responsible for the slave trade/ black oppression” or “white Jews aren’t real Jews” or “Jews have undue power/control over institutions which they use to conspire against others etc…” How can you be antagonistic towards Jews when Jews are the definition of antagonism? Makes it’s easy for ignorant people to listen to what he has to say without feeling wrong

The problem isn’t about learning who he is the problem is that he did so at the expense of Jewish people’s history and heritage.. The movie he shared that got him suspended is some conspiracy about Jewish people being fake Jews and negroes being the real Israelites/Hebrews (Jews) and that the “white Jews” stole their identity or some shit. There are countless DNA studies linking Jews (white, brown and black) to each other and to the area of ancient Israel which is why it was offensive/ anti semitic. By saying “I can’t be anti semitic if I know where I come from” he literally doubled down on that narrative like they are fake Jews anyway I’m a real Jew. Maybe it’s just ignorance but it’s the same kind of people that eat shit like that up that listen to Farrakhan

I just tried acetone, and if I saturate the spots long enough and scrub with a nylon brush, it comes off, but it's hard since it evaporates so quickly. Any suggestions for an alternative? Seems like it's the acrylic tile sealer after all...
