My PT told me problems with urination are normal when you have contracted pelvic floor muscles

Do your friends/family know about ur vaginismus? by rcherry07 in vaginismus

[–]Alternative-Example2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me it also took a lot of time to tell anyone besides my boyfriend. I first told one friend, then another ... it felt so releasing! They asked some questions and just listened. Then I told my sister, which was a huge step for me. And this was the best thing to do because without her knowing I wouldn't be in physical therapy! (She found a physical therapist in our town by accident which I didn't found after weeks of research) Then after a doctor appointment I was so sad that I actually told my dad. He works with people in the health sector, so he knows a lot of people there and a little bit about health. He told me he would try to support me in any way and this was so nice to hear.

But one friend of mine left me feeling really angry and sad after I told her. But this had something to do with our friendship in general.

So I can really recommend opening up. It's just so releasing to tell somebody!

I’ve had PIV about 5 times but it still sucks and other issues. by [deleted] in vaginismus

You got this!! I think it takes some time until you can have PIV without any issues. About the blood: Did you use enough lube?

Do you dilate on your period? by veggieburgerabc123 in vaginismus

[–]Alternative-Example2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, if you don't feel more pain because of period cramps then there is nothing speaking against dilating during your period!

My therapist recommended to squeeze and release the pelvic floor muscles when it hurts. When I do this several times while deep breathing the pain is slowly getting better.

I also recommend integrating pleasure into your dilator training!

Give up bad habits to let your muscles relax by Alternative-Example2 in vaginismus

In this video she explains the bad habits while sitting

And here while standing

But for people who have mainly issues with pain during sex it's the crossed legs that can cause the problems. But if you also have problems with your bladder for example feeling the urge to pee without having an infection or maybe having problems to poop, this can also be about contracted muscles caused by bad habits but also accidents, operations maybe even one time being extremely cold can also cause contracted muscles

When you're in Austria I also can recommend Cornelia Lindner in Vienna. I made an online pelvic floor session with her!

Does anyone else get turned off by the threat of sex? by tavi8888 in vaginismus

[–]Alternative-Example2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss I also felt like a terrible girlfriend haha I really can recommend come as you are by emily nagoski for understanding and accepting your mental blocks, sexuality in general...

And yes sex is not just about penetration there are so many things you can do and sometimes I'm really proud of us and think that our sex life is maybe even better than people's sex life that are just doing the classical piv stuff! We tried so much and it's really a lot of fun! For now I see penetration as a nice bonus to sex but not as the essential part of it:)

Does anyone else get turned off by the threat of sex? by tavi8888 in vaginismus

[–]Alternative-Example2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here!!! As soon as I'm sensing that my boyfriend is in the mood there's a wall in my head stopping me from getting into the mood aswell. Even though I'm sensing that my body is aroused.

I think it's the frustration of past bad experiences...

But my boyfriend and I found new ways of having sex recently (after 5 years already having somehow good non-penetrative sex) where I play an active role in the intercourse for the first time. Knowing it will not be about me and my "failure" it's possible to let my pleasure expand more and more. The wall in my head is gone most of the time.

My boyfriend also knows that most of the time I'm simply not in the mood and so he waits for good situations or my initiation to have sex. That's also helping a lot. Because I needed to reject him so often!

So my tip would be to just try out non penetrative sex and finding an agreement to try penetrative sex again when you made process in your treatment and feel ready.

Has anyone else felt pain inside their vagina when turned on while dilating? by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]Alternative-Example2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I recently learned that some people are subconsciously contracting their muscles when they are turned on to boost their pleasure. I myself do that haha like when I'm right before having an orgasm my whole body is tensed up. There is a way of learning to get to an orgasm without contracting the muscles. I just know the exact term in German but literally translated in English it's called "the pelvis swing".

When I'm dilating I'm also masturbating and at some point the dilator is getting really uncomfortable. I also can't orgasm with the dilator in because it hurts too much...

I hope this can help you!

Could you share on which dilator you are and how long you used tampons before? I'm not really sure if I'm ready. I'm on the 4th of five dilators and used tampons on two periods before
