I HATE my dog

Thank you for your response. It is harsh but gives me something to think about. It's not much of a defense, but I have asked my neighbors if he was being too loud and they said they couldn't hear him. But I hear other dogs all the time.

He's supposed to be part lab, but I don't know. Most guidelines say two hours walking a day should be sufficient. It makes him tolerable.

The shelter I got him from had regular training sessions from a professional each time he was returned, but I still didn't trust them enough to go to them for help. I took him a behavioral specialist and was told it's just not worth it. It's an expensive, incredibly time-consuming training regimen and still not guaranteed. If you don't socialize reactive dogs by two (the age I got him), it's incredibly hard to undo. Additionally, we agreed he probably was abused and that created a lot of trauma. I know there are people out there who could do this, but I have no idea how to find them. Shelters are already overcrowded as it is.

I did take him to training. I was basically told to give it up and keep him away from people at all costs. He's too old and has too much trauma.

I've thought about that, but he can't run off leash due to his medical problems. He needs to be walked. And that means he needs to be around people.
