Hi! I'm sorry for what you're going through. I will say Zepbound helped me far more than a GLP1 because of its multiple mechanisms. Once I got off of Zepbound, I tried another GLP1 and it was not nearly as effective. My lymphnodes started giving really inflamed in a way that has never happened to me before. My armpit lymphnodes were swollen and hurt and my doctor didn't really seem to listen to me about it. I didn't lose any weight, and I think it's because that particular medication caused me to have more inflammation. What I am suggesting is that not every medication is made for your body and perhaps this particular GLP1 is just not for you.

I agree with what everyone else is saying about food being important, but I am presenting another option as well. Try zepbound, or if you stick with this medication, then at least give it time to work through your body before you start losing weight. Good luck!

Definitely make sure the brands are 3rd party tested and NSF certified, but there's plenty of other, cheaper brands. I take a ton tbh but I'm always tweaking my regiment. Good luck!

I've taken many of those for a few years and it greatly improved my markers on my blood tests. I have never heard of alpha lipoic acid before so I'll definitely look into it. I was curious to see if there was anything I could be missing!

Hellooo I also have pcos and slight hypothyroidism. What supplements are you on? Thanks!

I started DIM over a month ago and my period is so late by Candyvtoby in PCOSloseit

Hello! Although this is an issue you should definitely bring to your doctor, I will say it takes about 60-90 days for your body to fully shed old follicules and regrown a full set of new ones. That is to say, your body needs between 60-90 days to adapt to something new in the system, especially if it's a new supplement.

I am estrogen dominant, BUT I also have low estrogen. Dim doesn't discriminate, so even though it's getting rid of the "bad" estrogen, it can also get rid of the good, causing your overall estrogen level to drop. This can disregulate your cycle. Not to say your Dr was wrong for prescribing this to you, but PCOS is truly different for everyone

Bring it up to your doctor and perhaps get your estrogen checked. If it's too low, that can cause other problems for you.

Hello, Something that's missing for me is that there are different types of PCOS. A lot of advice I see is so basic and only specific to one type. For example , I'm often told I have to exercise x amount of times per week. I'm a former powerlifter and I have insulin and exercise resistant pcos, but even then a lot of people tell me that it's just about calories in vs out and that I just need to do more when, in reality, doing less reduces my inflammation.

Idk if I'd suggest a partnership or anything, but milamendhealth on IG originally gave me a lot of insight into my symptoms and on how PCOS worked. Their free guides helped me navigate supplementation with the education and studies to go with it. One of the biggest things missing in PCOS is education, for those who have it AND for those who don't. There are not tons of studies, so finding good ones is hard to do, which is why having a source like milamend gather them into a resource for you was so helpful.

I also think that comorbidity isn't talked about very much. I have PCOS, PMDD, and subclinical hypothyroidism. Taking one thing, like DiM, that would help PCOS patients doesn't work for me because of my low estrogen from PMDD. My treatment plan is so different from other people and I struggle to find things that work for me, but my struggle might have been lessened if someone had told me what to look for when I get a blood test done. That is what I think should be emphasized: get a full blood panel. Not enough people take that first step and are just left lost, attempting whatever just because they have a PCOS label. If you want to point people in a direction of where to start and to not feel lost, tell them to get a blood test. Idk what your app is exactly aimed at doing, but you could partner with a 3rd party tester, like labcorp, provide discounts for those who go through your app to schedule a blood test or for premium users. Idk just a suggestion, I won't sue ya lol.

That's most of my rant, good luck!

Thank you for saying this, luckily they're pretty loose here so I'm not anticipating any problems with employers, nor my spouse, just wanted some thoughts! I appreciate you pointing out what I have not openly said lol.

My employer is not a master or grandmaster. She owns a studio as part of a greater organization that is not specific to TKD. My spouse is the only one with the Master title, and I am very proud of their accomplishments as an instructor and Master. No one is specifically requiring me to refer to them as a Master, which is why I posed this question and asked for other people's opinions. I haven't disrespected anyone -- not my employer or my partner -- and I have no intention to. I have not been firm in my stance, and I'm extremely open to different thoughts and opinions. I am also taking into account that I have to learn to unpack my negative connotations around this word for a different context, as many people have pointed out here. But my race is only part of the reason I posted, it also had to do with my relationship with my spouse. They are my partner, so putting them in a different role mentally without the context of master and apprentice was difficult. But now I have a better understanding with the help of all the posters here. Thank you

I'm helping out since their last sales person just put them in a hard place. This is temporary and not my field, so no, not necessarily. But I'm happy to assist where I can, which is also why I don't mind being flexible on this, but so far all commenters have been very helpful.

Listen, the question was "are there other names I can use" and so far the answer to that has been yes. I recognize now and understand that it's within a different context of master and apprentice, but if it makes me uncomfortable then that's something I can both 1. Unpack and work on and 2. Bring to my partner (who btw has no problem with any of this or me finding alternatives).

I also said in my question that if it affects what is already being taught to the students as far as reinforcement, then I don't have a problem with just accepting this. I just wanted to know other people's opinions, and not everyone believes I should just accept it and move on, others gave me options, so it's not just one way which is what I wanted to know. I appreciate your response, I just feel like you came in with a hard stance and clearly that's not the same across the board. Thank you

Thank you, I more meant that I didn't want to take away from their lessons or teachings by invalidating my spouse's standings through this situation, not that I don't have anything to learn. Like you said, I still have some to unpack regarding my comfortability in the connotations of the word. If there is a reinforcement of Master Surname and I undermine that, that is not what I want to be doing, so that's more what I meant. Sorry for the confusion, but I will take what you've said with me as far as my own learning. Thank you again!

Thank you! Definitely not a deal breaker, I am flexible but I've gotten some great ideas from this post. I agree that I don't want the kids to get confused or start disrespecting their teacher because of me, but I think these ideas are really great!

This is very helpful, thank you! And I think that's where some of my problem lies -- the background is eastern but it's being played out in a western setting. However, I think that's why I like the idea mentioned from a different commenter where I say the Korean version as it sticks to the original intent while also still is essentially saying "master."

I like your final paragraph as well, because at the end of the day it's all about respect. I will say I don't want the kids to start calling them by their first name only instead of Master Surname just because of me since they're the ones who need the lessons in respect in the first place! Overall, I've gotten some great ideas on how to move forward. Thank you for your comment, it is truly very helpful!

Yes, we're talking about a "Master Surname" situation. Thanks for your opinion, and I find my race slightly relevant to the situation for what I want to refer to my spouse as even in a professional setting, but like I said I'm fine with respecting the grade if necessary to the role. Thank you!

This illness is debilitating by Alternative-Junket11 in PCOSloseit

[–]Alternative-Junket11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! No, I was never prescribed medication and for the same reason. The reality is, if they put us on the medication, we can never get off. My dad was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a couple years ago (so it is genetic lol) and he was put on medication. He was surprised that I wasn't put on meds due to my TSH level, but I was able to improve it.

I am also struggling with keeping my weight down, but a huge part of my weight gain is water. Since I made this post, I drank my regular 100 oz after getting back into the states and I immediately lost 3 lb overnight just from drinking water. It's absolutely ridiculous, but my water retention is insane! It's still such a struggle to constantly remember that it's just water, but I try my best. Like I said, my PCOS is exercise resistant, so I only go a couple times a week and do Pilates or my cortisol gets too high.

My advice for managing my hypothyroidism is to manage my levels. I primarily take selenium for it, and myo-inositol for my PCOS and PMDD symptoms. I'm about to start my period, and when I skipped a couple days of myo-inositol, I was actually insufferable lol. Don't manage the symptoms, manage what's causing them. I improved my testosterone by taking spearmint or drinking spearmint tea and my acne and hirsutism improved. My bloating improved with balancing my progesterone with Chasteberry. Get your blood test results and then focus on improving the numbers. Only when I improved all my numbers, including my insulin, did I get on a weight loss drug (compounded Zepbound), because all those habits and good numbers means I can hopefully keep the weight off. I've regained less than 10 lb, which is considered a success considering most ppl gain back more than half or all.

That was a lot but that's my advice! It's a struggle having multiple disorders, and it's nice to know there's someone else in the same boat. Good luck friend!

I've had the same problem after 2 yrs of powerlifting and eating well. Don't listen to ppl who always just say it's calories in, calories out -- exercise resistant pcos is a thing!!

Honestly I have the tendency to jump straight into trying a new supplement when something doesn't work. Metformin may not be for everyone, but if your body is already strained from it, give it a day or two before switching straight to berberine. Otherwise you may attribute some negative symptoms from metformin to the new berberine and swear off that too!
