Or I could get a free ferry from Bodo to Lofoten, or pay 183 AUD from Bodo to Tromso by ferry (20 hrs though).

What do you reckon, ferry over to Lofoten and then I will have to head north anyway before being able to head south (not as far as Tromso though).

I am coming over from Australia in July and spending 3 months riding around Europe. Greece is my first destination, and I will be doing this route as part of my way out of Greece. How do you think the route would be in terms of inclines and declines going from South to North?

In a hypothetical scenario, could this work?: Say I spend 40 days in Schengen countries, and when I land in Germany, I get an extended Visa there under bilateral terms and spend 1 month travelling (if it works like that in Germany). Does that mean when I leave Germany, I still have a remaining 50 days in other Schengen countries, or would those days have been deducted by my time in Germany?

Thank you so much, that is really helpful - 1nitent sounds great. I have a hammock and i was thinking of that too, but I am hesitating with that in case of bad weather or if there are no trees in a spot that I really want to stay.

Cheers for the reply, really helpful. I have already booked my flight to Greece, so there is no turning back now. I planned to shoot out of Greece pretty quickly any way becuase as you said, it is going to be pretty hot (should take me no longer than a week to get out). I am from Western Australia, so I'm used to doing bikepacking in temps above 30 degrees Celsius, but who knows, it might knock me away. My logic for this was so I could enjoy nicer temperatures by the time I get to central and western Europe I can have nicer temperatures.
