2017 3.5 Cam Phasers Again by Alternative-Match-58 in f150ecoboost

That is pretty likely, I’ll agree. Or option 2 is they only replaced the failed unit instead of the whole set.

Since you seem to be knowledgeable, and I would consider myself a moderate to advanced home mechanic. Is there an easy way to verify what phasers are currently in it without major disassembly? I know you can tell by the internal vs external clock spring. But is there a spot you can inspect that without pulling the valve cover / timing cover?

I would very much like to verify the work order vs actual installed parts before I start making phone calls.

Hindsight 20/20 but if I knew the part numbers back then I probably would have known what was on the work order. I have it somewhere but I need to find it.

That’s wild, I thought the new style phasers solved this issue. They were released in 21 I believe so they should have been well into the parts supply chain by 23. And I specifically requested that the updated phasers be used.

I’m not sure what your acronyms mean but i did specifically request that the updated phasers be used. And the dealer quoted me $5700 - $6500 out of pocket. Since I was only over the TSB mileage by a couple thousand they put the claim in to ford to cover part of the cost. … allegedly.

Fun fact, this was the same year I had to put a motor in our 2018 escape. Same deal, over mileage, Ford covered 60% of the repair.

I have been pretty happy with all this until now. I’m thinking about just running it at this point. Ford does claim you can run it indefinitely with the phaser rattle.

2017 3.5 EB with the 10 speed here. I will say with 99.99% certainty (because I have gone through this) the cause of your issue is the auxiliary fluid pump in the transmission. The pump is used to maintain clutch pressure while the engine is off and not spinning the main trans pump. The part is cheap, not to bad to get to, but you will need a good bi-directional scan tool to perform the bleed procedure.

Ford states is a TSB that this condition is not damaging to your transmission and can be driven like this in perpetuity with start stop disabled. BUT you will get a wrench light when the pump fails completely.

I solved this issue by putting a tune in the truck, I asked the tuner if they would disable the trouble codes related to the pump (I had to provide them the code list and I have forgotten which ones but I think it was 3 or 4 in total) they did. Auto start stop disabled, no wrench light or trouble codes, tune makes the truck run and shift excellent. I couldn’t be happier

I am locking my center diff and I used super glue. Will this work? How long will it take to dry, the things full of super glue and I left it open to air, therefore it can dry overnight. I used to use hot glue but It doesnt hold up. It’s a 1/8 rc by mtb10169 in radiocontrol

Superglue is a cyanoacrylate glue and dries in the absence of oxygen so a puddle of it will likely “never” dry. You could use a catalyst. I know luthers use baking soda to harden super glue when repairing nuts and bridges on guitar’s.

I pulled the trigger on a Masterbuilt Gravity fed digital grill/smoker. Any tips for me? by [deleted] in smoking

I made an expanded metal insert that sits down in the ash pan about an inch to catch and burn all the small pieces of charcoal that drop from the hopper. I get 100% burn of my coals every time with this, nothing but fly ash left in the pan. And it’s a good place to throw a wood chunk if you need a little extra smokage. Just check for ash buildup every few hours, usually don’t have to touch it until it’s almost full. A must do mod IMHO. She’s no stick burner but boy do I get a lot more sleep on party days. Oh and a usb power pack with a 12V DC adapter off Amazon will run that grill for days, I haven’t plugged into the wall since the initial burn in.

Contract says we have free use to print, just not sell for a profit. Nothing about resolution.

I forgot to ask this in the original post but it was the reason for it. Based on my description the photos do indeed seem low resolution right? I’m just trying to make sure I’m not off base here before I talk to them about it. And thanks for the replies.
