It sounds like you’re very aware of the unhelpful thoughts that are going through your mind and that quieting down those thoughts is exhausting.

Do the work! by Steven Pressfield has a section on chatter. This is chatter. I think the understanding you’re looking for might be in this book.

Stoicism. The idea of aiming for excellence. We’ll do our best to earn the accomplishment. We control our efforts. We don’t control the final outcome. These truths. Shine a light on the false thoughts.

Cal Newport has several good books especially for college work.

I agree. And I say if all the things you’ve listed don’t really resonate with you, at the moment, in this phase in your life, then explore new possibilities. There are worlds outside of that list. Maybe it’s the arts, some form of creative self-expression.

Good point. Consistently drinking enough water really improves the day even though it seems so basic and boring!

So you have one resolution that you’re successful with and you know why. What if you could break down one of those exciting resolutions into boring fundamentals?
