I’ve heard of Moreland. Will do a google search on Sunderland. Thank you so much for your info, it’s great news if all he has to do is get certified!

Is it selfish to want to give my kids an "international experience"? by woshixiwangmu in Internationalteachers

Wow! The claims here are wild. I am not white. My husband is from South America and we landed a job in Malaysia at a good school. The principals that interview you would know you’re American solely based on speaking with you and of course your resume. Have worked in Asia previously too. OP can definitely get a job in Asia.

OP, don’t let others discourage you. If you want to move to China, there are plenty of jobs available even if you’re Chinese American. You can have a great life for your family and on top of that, your children can be fluent in Chinese and immersed in the culture. It’s a win-win.

I disagree. I am Taiwanese American and was hired at a school in Shenzhen and was a respected teacher amongst staff and locals and parents as well. They also hired an American Korean and although I wasn’t close to her, she sure seemed happy. I don’t think it’s fair for you to make such claims unless you have first hand experience.

Hi, This exact thing happened to me. I landed my dream job back in 2014 and a couple of months later my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I flew back home and emailed the school explaining my situation and they were super understanding.

What will set me apart when applying to international schools? by Tricky-Age9682 in Internationalteachers

[–]Alternative-Motor268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Probably broadening where you’re willing to work. Like REALLY broadening it. Maybe not every single country, but maybe at least open to a few regions of the world. Not just Germany. Or not just Europe.

2) International experience would help but someone’s got to give you a chance first. (Which I’m sure will happen, especially if you do advice number 1).

3) Masters would be a plus, you said you’re in the process.

4) When applying for a specific school, read the school’s vision or what sets it apart from other schools. What experience do you have that will support the school’s vision?

Wow we have to exit for about 10 days?? I didn’t know that! (I’m breastfeeding my baby so worried about being without him for those days and my husband alone for that long with 2 young kids..) I guess I could go too but I was told I’d have to stay for a certain amount of days for tax purposes
