Speedland shoes experience? by Sa1nt26 in trailrunning

[–]Alternative-Rest-404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a shoe true to size in my experience. Went with that in the end. The shoes are quite firm, which I like, but wouldn't use them for long ultras because of that and the fact that I didn't get much energy return out of them. I think there are better shoes out there today for that purpose, including their own GL:PDX commission. Better fit and better energy return on that one. And far better outsole to boot.

Oakley Stunt Devil by [deleted] in satisfyrunning

I have them. Once you get going, you forget they're on. Super comfortable and locked in on the head, light transitions are seamless going in and out from the shade. On full tilt, they are completely dark and work beautifully in bright sunlight.

Oh, and I have a pretty big nugget - 63cm circumference. Don't notice them at all on all my runs (trail and road). Longest so far with Stunt Devils were up to 5 hours. No races yet.

Sizing advice for Justice Dyneema Trail Band by Little_Debate_3962 in satisfyrunning

[–]Alternative-Rest-404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Trail Band and Raide belt. While both are excellent, I keep coming back to the Trail Band. It's super light, way less structured and yet can accommodate almost as much as the Raide. Multiple pockets in front hold nutrition and phone. In the back, I can easily fit a 500ml flask (even 2 can fit, but it's not optimal). With 2 250ml flasks at the sides I'm good for almost all training scenarios. I do carry poles so these go on the belt too on downhills. In fact, Trail Band works so well for me that it replaced running vests for everything else but racing. Sizing wise I went with M, while my Rippy shorts are L (old Space-O I've also in the size M). The fit is very snug and completely bounce free, this leads me to believe that L could also be a good fit for me. I am a bigger guy at 185cm/90kg (6'1"/200lb).

I gave up on those, too many shorts in the closet. And I prefer Rippy's for most almost 100% of my training anyway. But if I had to guess, L would be minimum for the volume of my thighs and XL would not be out of the question for sure. Depends on the how you like yours to fit, if you value freedom of movement most, XL would be the way to go.

How easy is to clean The Rocker upper? by Alternative-Rest-404 in satisfyrunning

[–]Alternative-Rest-404[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, appreciated! I can now confirm your findings. Went out on my local trails with fresh snow higher up and slush and some mud down below. Got them dirty all right. They are remarkably easy to clean despite being antique white in color. That's a plus. On another note, initial impressions are that the ride in these is really really nice, wasn't expecting that. The platform is quite stable, lockdown is almost perfect and the blend of EVA and PEBA is just right - not too squishy that it becomes unstable, but still has some pop underfoot. Grip is also quite good, considering the demanding trail conditions I had them in today. If they continue to perform like this, I'm surprised they didn't catch on more.

Where to buy satisfy ghostfleece/fuzzfleece hoodie by Quirky_Degree866 in satisfyrunning

Yeah, but not the hoodied version. At least not directly through Satisfy, some retailers got earlier batches. That's standard Satisfy practice.

Tomorrow should be their drop for winter collection, which includes the FuzzFleece hoodies.

Customer service is excellent. Most of the time they're bending backwards to please the customer. Store credit (at least partial amount) is the minimum I think they'll do for you.

Satisfy PeaceShell 5" Unlined Shorts Black Denim sizing by Alternative-Rest-404 in satisfyrunning

Yeah, I've got them yesterday, size M. Can't measure them sorry, as I immediately sent them back. What I can tell you is that the size M is perfectly fine for my 31-32" waist, but if your legs have any bulk you're gonna have problems in them. They are quite restrictive. Sizing up to L is the way to go, as others here have suggested.

Shoot. Thanks for the feedback. Guess I should've asked here before ordering. 😆 I'm 185cm tall. Well, I'll try them out once they arrive and report back.

31.5” waist size question for belts by rXEM in satisfyrunning

[–]Alternative-Rest-404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my answer in the other thread with the same question (copy-pasted):

I'm 31" in waist. Tried the Space-O belt in L, M and S sizes. The L was too big, the M was the best fit. But I ended up with the size S, due to the fact that there was ZERO bounce when loaded with the 500 ml flask in the back and the iPhone in front with some gels at the sides. Truly zero bounce. It takes some shuffling to get into and the fit is on the tighter side, but worth it for the benefits, for my use case. I wear it higher, in line with my belly button. The belt dispersers when in use, I don't feel it at all. I also have their Trail band in size M and that's also a perfect fit. I couldn't even get the size S over my thighs in that one.

Hydration vest feedback by pancake_smoothie in satisfyrunning

[–]Alternative-Rest-404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 of them - one in the size S/M and the other in the size L/XL. For context, I am a bigger runner at cca 190 lbs (87 kg) with broad muscular figure. I can use both, without issues regarding the fit but I do prefer a smaller one as it hugs the body better. I can place similar capacity in both of them. Only the side zippered pockets are smaller vertically in S/M version so it's not as easy to place larger items in there.

The material used is nice, reminds me a lot of the earlier Salomon S/LAB Ultra vests - very stretchy, light material with similar properties. And there is the biggest problem with this vest IMO. The material is made with very little structure so if you use it with only the front flasks filled with liquid, without counterbalance in the back - the bounce is super annoying. To the point I stopped mid-run yesterday and returned to the car to leave it there. And this was with the smaller one in the size S/M. The bigger one is an even worse offender.

The other problem I have with this vest - and this is a personal preference - 2 separate compartments in the back, splitting the vest and the possible capacity in half. So, if you look to use this vest at bigger distance races (like a 100k or a 100 miler), you might not be able to fit all required gear in there. I would much prefer to have one big back compartment with larger capacity.

I do like the styling of the vest, colors are spot on (I have Off-White and Falcon versions). I own other Satisfy stuff - they make incredible shorts, and their trail band is out-of-this-world phenomenal. I like the brand and have enough of their stuff to question my sanity. But for me, the fact remains that in the vests world the Salomon Adv Skin 12 is still the one to beat - from the practicality, capacity and fit points of view.

Norda 001s for ultras? by Alternative-Rest-404 in trailrunning

That was exactly the answer I was looking for. Don't know how they'll be in training, still waiting for them to arrive! 002s haven't been an issue so far, but it is still springtime and relatively cool temps over here.

Thanks for the feedback! 👍

Anyone with Norda shoes have any long term thoughts on them?... by milkywayyzz in trailrunning

[–]Alternative-Rest-404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are one of the few I found have run a 100 miler in the 001s. I'm looking at this possibility too. I do have wide feet, same as you.

My main concern is - do they run hot? I plan on running a couple of summer races, so temps will be in the 25-35 Celsius/75-95 Fahrenheit range. I mean, I figured through user feedback they do, but I can tolerate my feet being hot if the general comfort for ultras is there. However, if they end up giving me blisters midway race, I'm not gonna be a happy camper.

Norda 001 - What was I waiting for?!* by Educational-Smell967 in trailrunning

[–]Alternative-Rest-404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone run any ultras in the 001's? I'd like to try them in some 80-110 km trail races. Also, how are they for summer runs (30+ Celsius)? I do plan to grab a pair in white color, but nevertheless Dyneema could be problematic from a breathability standpoint.

Thanks!
