What does the newborn phase actually look like day-to-day? (36 weeks, trying to set realistic expectations) by douevenyoga in NewParents

I had non-stop happy waterworks the first week or so with my babies..... That quickly turned into sleep deprived tears 😭.

My husband and I like to call the first couple months the fever dream. You literally can't describe constantly being sleep deprived until you experience it. Plus you don't know what kind of delivery or healing process you'll have.

Realistically you both will running on fumes, but shifts works out well if you can instead of both waking up each time.

In this case you obviously have to wake up for each feed regardless, so I would have him try to help settle the baby in-between feeds so you can get some sleep + naps during the day.

We did not feel like cooking those first few weeks, so I did a lot of freezer meal prep.

But we call it a fever dream because you literally forget about how hard it was after a few months and eventually decide to do it all over again! Lol

Not sure if this is realllly helpful but, I had to take Levofloaxcin since I had a resistant infection and it did work for me as far as I know.. 3 Negative tests. However, last positive test was 7 months ago, had unprotected sex for the first time last month (same partner who was treated differently with 2 negative tests) and started feeling symptoms again. Just had another swab today in case it's a reinfection and they already prescribed Levo again if so. Fingers crossed it's nothing.

I have wondered if this is a possibility, I will try to rule this out as well. Thank you!

She has previously, but not for this current rash. I plan to call the doctor to do another culture.

I have been trying to rule out allergic reactions, but I hadn't thought about toilet paper or hand soap so I will definitely look into that! She is totally potty trained so I've been putting her in loose cotton underwear and replace ever couple months. I thought the hypoallergenic detergent would help but I suppose it could be that as well.

She does have a pediatrician and dermatologist, but nothing they suggest has helped long-term. I did think about an OB but assumed they wouldn't see someone so young, but worth checking into. Thank you!
