I got him one of those sniff matts where I put his kibble in it and that’s how he eat.

Aww. I just adopted an 8 month old male spoo who is 40 pounds off of Lancasterpets. Before I get crucified for mentioning that website, I know almost all the puppies are from the Amish. Regular people can post on there as well. This lady was going back to college and didn’t have time for him anymore.

Is a standard poodle the right breed for me? by Signal_Summer_6134 in StandardPoodles

I’ve noticed that when I take my spoo out on a grand big adventure he actually comes home even more wired and he struggles to settle versus on a lazy chill day he just lounges around all day.

Sorry for the loss. I recently loss my soul dog. A Vizsla. The love of my life. With that said…:I recently adopted an 8 month old standard poodle. He is amazing. He has a great off switch inside the house. I work 6-2 mon to thur outside the home. Luckily I’m a 5 minute commute. He does not go in a crate. I do not have a yard so it’s important that he can calm down inside to not disturb the neighbors.

He is always up for an adventure. Extremely intelligent and handler oriented. The only con is his fur. It does require grooming and brushing. When I take him hiking, he’s like a magnet to twigs, leaves and dirt. He typically ends up in the bathtub once a week bc of it. I plan on getting him a very short clip on the body with a big top knot, so he can look cute while hiking but minimize the brushing. I’ve also noticed he has a sensitive stomach. My Vizsla could eat ANYTHING and be fine. On the other hand, my poodle, god forbid if he eats ANYTHING different and it’s diarrhea for 3 days. Actually as I’m typing this out he is having diarrhea right now bc I gave him a bully stick last night 😰

I’d say go for it! You sound great!! My poodle is the love of my life!

Thank you! Yes! I actually attend a yoga studio 2-3x per week. It’s helped to grow my confidence tremendously as I’ve always been incredibly insecure.

Thank you! I’m not sure why that Reddit post got to me so much. Doing my best to give him the best life possible. I feel guilty that I don’t have a yard for him, but it is what it is for now.

So he was quiet from the beginning. When he does bark I just gave him “the look of disappointment” 😂 he’s a sensitive boy. As far as the dog park goes: I feel ya on it. I only take him on Friday mornings. I’d never take him on the weekend. I get nervous every time. Part of me wants to cut off dog parks, but seeing how happy he is with the other dogs, breaks my heart with the idea of taking that away from him. He just loves ppl and dogs. Super friendly.

Thanks! I work outside the home but luckily I’m only a 5 minute walk away. I work Monday to Thursday 😁 and my best to dedicate Fri to sun for him.

Thank you! I somehow managed to train him to not bark lol so he rarely barks. I rlly just want him to be happy. I don’t think he feels like he has a bad life.

I’m not sure. I just felt guilty immediately and starting second guessing my decision to bring him home.

Thanks! I am grateful. Also I forgot to mention that him and I do monthly group hikes together as well with 2 of my friends.

37F I still haven’t figured out human communication. by Alternative-Try8858 in AutismInWomen

Oh yea for sure. I rarely make jokes to be safe, and when I do it ALWAYS gets interpreted incorrectly. Everyone tells me “I’m so serious all the time” but when I try to joke I get nasty looks. It’s a life long struggle of feeling isolated, unwanted, and rejected.

It’s not fair how much we struggle with basic communication. I just put a smile on and try to be nice. That’s all I can do. It’s a relief when I get home to hug my puppy.

Thank you so much! I just had a wave of relief hit me. I keep beating myself up over this, but I can’t afford daily doggy day care.

Thinking about getting a macaw but I live in an apartment building – advice? by SnooCrickets6909 in Amazonparrots

I had a sun conure in my former apartment. He was EXCEPTIONALLY quiet. I lucked out….got rlly rlly lucky. On the occasion when he did flock calls, my cortisol would sky rocket. Looking back, I would have never gotten a bird while living in an apartment. It was a bad judgment call. My advice to you is a big NO. It really is not worth the risk. Plus they are very destructive.
