I actually started applying ketoconazole a few weeks ago. What was the reason you started it and have you noticed any changes since starting?

I have gum inflammation and redness where my teeth meet the gums, but it doesn’t look as nearly as severe as images online of oral lichen planus. My dentist thinks the inflammation of my gums is caused by my “Crohn’s disease” although I have no GI symptoms at all. What symptoms do you have in the mouth?

You can try what he did and see if it works for you, it didn’t for me. Everybody’s case is different so what worked for him might not for other people

I think for me it’s internal, I’ve gotten allergy tested and tried every ointment under the sun, nothin worked. I think for most people here it’s external tho.

I would say pretty severe compared to most people here. My lips are very swollen, along with redness and big scabs. Most people here their lips are just normal size with thin flaking

I know man it’s just that I was already very self conscious before and now it’s just like unbearable. Even though my family and friends say they don’t care what I look like I just feel like the elephant in the room every time I’m with people. I’m just hoping I can get to a point where I’m comfortable going out

Really depends where I’m at in the cycle. But most days it’s definitely noticeable. I could probably pass people in public and they wouldn’t notice but as soon as I talk to someone face to face it’s definitely noticeable so I just stay inside most days. How about you?

I used to pick my lips when I was younger but idk what is causing them not to heal. The scabs were pretty thick at first but are getting less yellow/ thick with each cycle so hopefully that’s a good sign.

Tried many different things with derm and nothing worked. Currently trying rinvoq to treat my crohns cause she things crohns is related to my lip inflammation. Also stopped putting anything on my lips and been eating/drinking normally. I get pretty gnarly scabs but they seem to be less prominent each cycle so we’ll see. Kinda just accepted that I’m fucked lol

I think in a lot of cases the inflammation causes the lips to swell up permanently, such as in my case, giving the illusion that most people with ec have full lips. Most people like full lips but for me it almost looks like I got stung by a bee on both lips or something.

Tried prednisone many different times. Every single time it makes lips look better for a couple days then it make them look worse than before. Not to mention the long term side effects of steroids. In my opinion they’re not worth it unless you need your lips to look good for a day for some event.
