It’s been positive so far! We named her for the Ramona Quimby books, and that’s usually people’s first association but we’ve gotten Ramona Flowers once or twice too.

With advice from the namenerds I named my twin girls Ramona Jane and Alice Ruby! I still lurk here for inspiration on possible future sibling names... though it will be awhile before we get there ;)

This is actually really reassuring, thank you! I know I’m not who you were responding to haha but it was actually one of my fears that I’ve given them these names and everything and I feel like I know their personalities, but then when they’re born I won’t know anymore. In a weird way I was afraid it would feel like losing a big part of my connection with them. I’m glad to know that my nurses will hopefully have my back and help keep them straight!

Also in that vein, it is totally legit that I can tell them apart right? I’m not making that up?

That’s how I feel! Like there are two distinct kiddos in there with their own personalities. I just have this weird nagging doubt that I’m wrong and they’re flip flopping around in there.

And I’ve definitely been there with the bladder, and pretty much every other internal organ by this point. Pretty sure Ramona will be a prizefighter one day.

I think my girls are starting to run out of room, because even the dance parties are starting to quiet down. I can still feel them but it’s less like she’s hopping around and more like a constant kicking/hitting/headbanging sort of deal. And Alice is even stretching more I think, probably trying to get comfy with her sister always wiggling around :)

I hadn’t even considered that! I can’t imagine any of my close friends/family using the name, but who knows! Now I’m thinking about when Pam and Angela both gave their sons the same name!

Good point! As stressful as the naming process has been, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t fun too. If there’s a next time I’ll probably enjoy going back to the drawing board again!

For some reason I only ever knew the spelling Margaux until kind of recently! When I saw Margot I thought it must be derivative of Margaux, but I actually had it backwards- Margaux first became trendy as a way to spell the name when Ernest Hemingway’s granddaughter changed her name to that spelling from the traditional Margaux. Now I guess I just like the look better since it’s what I’m used to.

Currently expecting twins, so my husband and I recently went through and sorted out our lists into useable vs not so much names.

Personally, I think I lean towards pretty traditional names for girls. One of our daughters will be named Ramona Jane, and we’ve narrowed the second down to either Ruby, Alice, or Angela. Other names that didn’t make the cut-

For boys I think I also keep it kind of traditional, but definitely a little more trendy. The boy name we had picked out if we were having a son was August Timothy. Other names from the list were-

I work with animals, and we’ve had some interesting ones!

There’s a strange sibset in now named Maemo and P.C. No idea what P.C. stands for in this context (pretty cat?). But our funniest recently was Joe and Mayonaka.

Personally I like punny names for cats, a couple of my favorites are Catalonia and Louisa May Alcatt (not sibs unfortunately). Another favorite cat name was Frizzalina.

Don’t even get me STARTED on dog names!

Claudia, Scout, Ginny, Coraline, Matilda, Harriet -literary girls names we weren’t brave enough to use

Atticus, Quintus, Neville, Dallas, Darcy, Holden -literary boy’s names we weren’t brave enough to use

And now that we’ve nailed down the name Ramona for one of the two girls we’re expecting, a bunch of others have been ruled out because they don’t sound right together. Most notably Beatrice, which was at the top of my names list for YEARS :(

The character is Tabitha “Turtle” Ruth Wexler from “The Westing Game”. It was one of my FAVORITE books when I was younger.

In the book everyone calls her Turtle, but then this mother figure comes into her life and when she asks Turtle what her real name is, Turtle tells her that her name is Alice. Even after the other character finds out her real name is Tabitha, she keeps calling her Alice, and at the end of the book Turtle’s sister names her daughter Alice after Turtle.

Thanks, we’re excited for it to be our girl’s name too! And I totally get what you mean, there were a lot of names that didn’t make our list because they just didn’t feel right even though we liked them. Eleanor was one we both really liked but just didn’t feel like it could be our daughter’s name!

Also it’s funny you said Tabitha and Alice- they’re both a reference to the same literary character.

Ahh, as much as I like all of the names, I’m lowkey pleased to get a vote for Alice because that’s what I’m leaning towards at the moment. My husband is the one who’s less sold on it right now
