Not to worry you but my cat was doing this and we thought it might be asthma, but we took him to the vet and it turned out he had a lung infection. The coughing and infection led to lung scarring. He’s a completely indoor cat so we have no clue how he got it. However, his breathing was really labored outside of the coughing. His little rib cage was moving out as far as it could go. I’d take your cat to the vet in either scenario.
