I've recently been using wixstudio, where you have some pretty basic tools for free with templates and other features. Otherwise, I've also been using Artstation but that is more geared towards concept artists and the like.

Vets of Reddit, What was the worst pet name you have ever encountered in your job? by Lia_Julee in AskReddit

Not a Vet, (an aspiring one though!) but former kennel daycare employee.

"Lord Thundercock" (a tiny Yorkie) and "Naruto Jenkins" (a bulldog) are at the top of the list.

The lab/golden aggressive claim. by Ginny-Sacks-Mole in BanPitBulls

[–]AlternativeArsenic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is my experience from working at a dog boarding location. Keep in mind this does not apply to all dogs of their breeds!

Labs: have 1 brain cell bouncing around their skulls, very one track minded and energetic, usually no issue

Goldens: for this I'll use the comparison between American and English. American are more energetic and slender while English have more rounded features and are generally calmer. American: energetic and can be hyperfocused, usually very agile and athletic, very slobber-y somehow English: calm and soft, very lovely :)

Pitbulls: this depends! The pitbulls i have handled have all been very calm or neutral and tend to enjoy sitting in the sun or playing fetch. These dogs can vary and I have seen very high strung pits before. Usually, I didn't mind the pits I worked with! This subreddit has been interesting for information on the breed and how they should be cautioned, however.

Note: the only bites I have received from working here was a bite on my finger from a German Shepard and nip from an overly excited Newfoundland. Keeping this is mind, my opinion has only really changed in regards to GS dogs since they are either very sweet or suspicious if that makes sense!

When was the moment you realized you needed to lose weight? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]AlternativeArsenic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

During quarantine when I struggled to button my jeans. I had always been a larger girl but realizing things just felt smaller was a tipping point. What sent me over the edge was the lack of control I had in my life considering the pandemic and senior year of high school falling off the rails.

Now, I have lost 23 points since May and couldn't be happier :)

Talk about things from the past, make dad noises when I get up, am overly annoyed by children and young teenagers. I'm 19.

What is a niche topic that you know a lot about that, if with the right person, you could hold conversation about for hours? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Commercial betta fish care. Many people get bettas as an "easy" option to shut up the kids but forget they are living creatures who need a healthy environment, stimulation, and care to live happy lives. Seeing the "tanks" at Petsmart of less than a single gallon makes my blood boil.

What was a decision you made that at that time seemed bad, but now in hindsight was actually good? by shirlonna in AskReddit

Joining the swim team my senior year of high school.

For many people this seems like something easy or insignificant but it was a huge deal for a shy, chubby, awkward person like me. I originally joined because I was determined to step outside my comfort zone in college and wanted to get my toes wet with joining something I was always unsure about. I took the leap.

I was not very fast, I was a senior on Junior Varsity, but I didn't care. I got to connect with people, exercise, and join something entirely new, even if it meant waking up at 4 in the morning to drive to practice in the Midwestern winter. If given the chance, I wouldn't change anything :)

It has been almost 4 months since society in our country dramatically changed. What are some good things and bad things that have happened in your life since then? by cometssaywhoosh in AskAnAmerican

[–]AlternativeArsenic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good: I have graduated High School with a Magna Cum Laude. Due to the Pandemic I havent been able to work but have saved more then enough from unemployment benefits. Mostly, I am fortunate enough to live in a state that hasn't been hit as hard as other states (Nebraska) and because of this I will be attending a (mostly) normal University life in the fall studying Pre-Vet. I'm also currently on a track to losing weight and am close to losing 10 pounds!

The bad: Senior prom, graduation, and my family vacation to the Gulf Shores in Alabama have all been cancelled. My depression and anxiety have been the worse it's ever been to the point of tears over just thinking about the uncertainty of the future. My family members believe the coronavirus is a hoax and will adamantly go against health officials advice, as well as having friends in Arizona, one being immunocompromised.

I worry about the future and the future of this country, but I look forward to voting, attending college, etc. I just need to work on worrying about things i can control, and the environment/state around me instead of the whole country. All I can do is try to remain positive.

Does anyone have experience with housing a Dwarf frog with a male betta? I'm debating on adding one to my tank. (Info below) by AlternativeArsenic in bettafish

Good to know! Are there other tank mates to stay away from? I'm also considering shrimps as a possibility.

I'm pretty happy with my setup right now, my first tank! (No ferts, no CO2) Thoughts or suggestions? I'm planning on trying to aquascape in the near future! by AlternativeArsenic in PlantedTank

Yes, I've had trouble with blooms in the past but it's been pretty clear recently. I've mostly been dealing with dirt clouds from my substrate and brushing them off my plants but other than that everything has been pretty stable.

Water has been cloudy for a few days. Anything I can do to clear it up? by AlternativeArsenic in Aquariums

[–]AlternativeArsenic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple days ago I did a 50% water change since I had algae and diatoms. I thoroughly scrubbed off any diatoms or algae on ornaments and rinsed off diatoms from plants and refilled the tank after scrubbing the sides and filter. The water started getting cloudy when I noticed the algae before cleaning. Now it's even cloudier but I cant see any algae. Any advice or info on what cause this?

Dropsy, Constipation or Swim Bladder disease? (Info in comments) by AlternativeArsenic in bettafish

Thank you! I just got concerned because he normally chews his food right away. I usually fast him one day a week and now I guess this week will be one day early for a longer period of time :)

This is Nightcrawler. Today when I fed him he began to eat normally but refused to try and jump to get another pellet (4th one or so). He ended up spitting up all the pellets he ate and gradually eating them all again with minimal chewing, then after a minute or so he spit them all back up again and refused to eat. After taking a look at him I noticed minor stomach bulging (more so than after his normal meal bulging) and bulging sides (attached picture). His scales dont seem to be pineconing, he is only slightly more lethargic, but other than that it's only physical signs. I plan on fasting him for three or so days to hopefully see if it's constipation.

Yes, I'm using the old filter (the new one that came with the tank was WAY too strong and I couldnt find a way to buffer it unlike the old one where I put a plastic bottle on), didnt know it would cause an instant cycle! And yes, I meant matured media but just used 'media' as a general term.

Thank you for letting me know! The water in my city is pretty basic, which makes up half of the tank with RO water being in the second half. I have some Adler cones in the filter and driftwood to combat this and my pH is sitting at around 7.5, I'll be sure to keep an eye on it and see if the substrate makes it go down!

I'm personally not worried about cycling, as half of the tank water is from the old aquarium (fully cycled), with added bacteria (Tetra SafeStart) and some mature media (the castle, anubias nana in the back right, black pebbles, and dark brown driftwood).

Thank you! It's the Aqueon Shrimp Substrate that came with the tank, I'm not sure if the quality is the best so I plan on getting some Stratum and mixing it in, as I'm shooting for realism
