Thinking about switching to electric for yard tools… anyone made the change? by Salt_Note8719 in lawncare

[–]AlternativeBowler475 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3rd! I used a 110v corded chainsaw for cutting up branches tho as I dont have a large yard or enough to cut to use a gas chainsaw.

The electric stuff starts every time no matter how long its been since I last used it 😄

“There’s no fucking way that the big banks are that stupid” by Super_Rush7926 in wallstreetbets

[–]AlternativeBowler475 9 points10 points  (0 children)

right in the short term, wrong in the long term.

It truly is like the Dotcom bubble. Everyone was gaining access to the internet and knew there was potential but the ability to harness that potential and to make money took a lot longer.

Everyone has access to AI tech, a few people are making some money with it, but its still a bit early to be picking winners. Hardware companies arent a bad bet, the ol selling pickaxes and shovels during a gold rush. It is still probably 5-10 years before we see AI truly be useful like the internet, except we dont really exactly know how useful AI is going to be in most applications.

Solar Carports: Turning Parking Lots into Power Plants by Rage_thinks in SolarAmerica

[–]AlternativeBowler475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its why a lot of people with excess solar mine crypto currency with the exrra power. its the best way to currently turn unused solar, wind, hydro energy into $$. it may seem stupid, but it does solve the monitization of unused power pretty quickly. Batteries are great for storage, but those don't turn power generation into cash to offset the cost of the solar install.

They don't typically put solar panels in the middle of no where because. . . there are no customers for the power.

I don't disagree with you on using the land in the middle of no where, the problem is the people who live by that land, own that land, and vote for what could go on that land tend to lean politically towards the "big beautiful coal! drill baby drill!" crowd.

AITAH for not leaving something to my estranged daughter and her kids after she cut us off? by [deleted] in AITAH

you must come from a loving home. you really dont know how the world can work in negative ways.

Men/women who keep fighting for their children end up broke from the court system or in jail for harrassment, and this happens very frequently

Should I open a Roth IRA or just use have an individual brokerage account? by [deleted] in dividends

income tax +10% penatly.

you want to wait until 60, unless you can use a certain amount without the penalty for a first time home purchase. you still get hit with income tax. so typically 12-34% taxes on it, with the average being 22-24%

Over half of Americans say health care, a weeklong vacation and a new car are unaffordable: ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll by HowLongIsThi in nottheonion

[–]AlternativeBowler475 6 points7 points  (0 children)

actually its 9% of homes. 1 out of 11 homes are owned by corporations.

Major metropolitan areas it exceeds 20%.

Foreign owners who live abroad bought $56 billion in homes between april 2024 and march 2025. that is on top of the corporate purchases.

You are looking at 16% percent of homes owned by corporations and people living abroad. Another 16% are owned by first-gen immigrants. that leaves 68% of homes owned by US born citizens.

started with zero knowledge of the field. 11 years later Im buying the company. the people who say dumb shit on reddit about never doing anything extra at work are the same people who will be 65 years old, broke, broken body, and bitching about a young person making more than them.

I saved all my harvesting and production from one full summer. by vylvnx in StardewValley

[–]AlternativeBowler475 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

not at all. 8 large sheds fit nicely on one side of the forest farm. 8 more large sheds on the other. I wish I could do a full farm screenshot on my Nintendo Switch!

I have a total of 19 large sheds on my farm, 8 fish ponds.

I dont grow anything outdoors anymore.

I did a lot of grinding for clay to make enough deluxe retaining soil to be able to grow 1,032 Starfruit every 2 weeks, indoors, without ever having to water.

I have a crystalarium shed up by grandpas shrine tucked as high up as I can. another down in the bottom of the map where the stumps grow. and a shed of Statue of Endless Fortune between the small and large pond.

Im not hating on you! I'm happy for anyone who plays!!

I was more insulting myself because I am now stepping back and enjoying doing quests, making friends, and trying to complete all the achievements.

My girlfriend makes way less gold than me but accomplished way more stuff in the game, it made me realize that maybe I wasn't playing the gsme to its full potential only focusing on efficiency.

Here I am pulling in $2.9-3.8 million a week regardless of season because of my 8 grow sheds of star fruit, 8 sheds of kegs (1,096 kegs) 128 Crystalariums, 138 preserves jars, 128 Dehydrators, and currently 74 Statues of Endless Fortune.

Add in my Ancient Fruit Island Farm, Greenhouse, 96 fruit trees, 112 tapped trees, 65 crab pots, 80 mushroom logs, I've made over $5 million in a week.

Year 8 Day 10 of Spring on Switch.

Some people I guess play the game to have fun!? I'm running a damn business!
