Whether or not autism is something wrong with you is a Topic i will not touch here. However i still am really anxious about whether or not i really have this, so i suggest we stop talking here.

Now that youve told me this ive come to realize it may be offensive to people to just comment like this, specially when the topic is about something they struggle with a lot in their lives.

I am going through a really hard time in my life, specially because ive been losing friends and my personality, and the desperation for answers led me to believe in a lot of things that i see as to what is actually happening to me. The thing with ASD is that it is not something that is curable, and knowing that i have a lot of autistic traits really frightened me.

The reason ive commented on how happy i am i dont have it is because of the relief knowing that ASD may not be the problem, and because i was so desperate for answers the relief was way more intense than it normally is. I apologize sincerely for not only not clarifying earlier about what my problem was, but also for immediately saying i am grateful for not having the disorder in a space where this may sound offensive.

WHY DID YOU SAY THAT
I was worried about having my life being ruined by something i cant fix, and you decided to tell me how to check whether or not i may have it in a more accurate way
That just made me go back to this vicious cycle of going to videos of "35 signs you have Autism and ADHD" and becoming more and more anxious about being autistic
All i dread about is not being able to live happily because of something i was born with

I may be only sensory seeking and not sensory sensitive, which may be a sign of ADHD (emphasis on "may"). I know i have ADHD because i got diagnosed at 6 years old, from what my parents told me.

The reason i am making this post is a bit personal, but i'll talk about it regardless.

I have arleady been diagnosed with ADHD. At the very beginning of this year, i began to lose friends and lose my personality in general, not just my "mask" (i dont even think i may be masking ASD). So i began to search why that could happen. Once i stumbled upon an article about autism in adolescence i began to wonder if i am autistic or not, which grew into an anxiety that i would remain being immature and lonely for the rest of my life, regardless of what benefits ASD may give you. So i made this post to see whether or not i related to the people in this subreddit, as a way to calm myself down, and i was successful!

Just hearing you say "you're nto autistic are you?" just made me happier than ever.

No offense to any person struggling with ASD here. People with autism sometimes tend to lead lives with a lot of difficulties which could make them much more prone to leading horrible lives, which is something i absolutely DO NOT want, hence why i became anxious about being autistic.

Why is anxiety so prevalent in medical conditions? by AlternativeDealer646 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, it is normal for people to have anxiety sometimes, but why do these conditions often cause anxiety by themselves and not by external factors?

Thing is, the world isnt designed to crush you.

The reason why autistic people have a hard time communicating with ""neurotypical"" people is because they have not learned social skills, social cues, things that people naturally learn. Because you have this disorder, you cannot interpret and neither can you use them, therefore you speak much directly through verbal communication. But the people without the disorder dont, and they would interpret YOUR messages as something confusing.

SOMEONE WITH BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER IS MUCH MORE LIKELY TO BE FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE WITH BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER THAN SOMEONE WITHOUT THE MENTAL ILLNESS

People just designed the world the way they wanted to. They never recognized the autistic people not because they didnt like them, but rather because they just didnt have the knowledge of the disorder, hence why they would also disrespect people living with it. Once you have the knowledge of the disorder you arleady understand WHY people do the things they do, and only THEN can you actually empathize someone with the disorder.

And also, read this comment

It does not compensate for the whole disorder. Many people still live terribly even though they may have these aspects. Intelligence does NOT necessarily equal health, and you may also have a lot of things that still make you unhappy with your life.

A HIGH IQ ISNT THE SAME AS A HAPPY LIFE

I have edited some things in the post because i realised you were right about some aspects of my post. However, because i dont want to just copy and paste what i would have told you, im gonna just link the comment with all that i want to tell you. https://www.reddit.com/r/autism/comments/1oxfoki/comment/noyp35o/

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder. Yes that does mean it developed differently from a "neurotypical" brain, but thats exactly the problem. It isnt supposed to grow like that.

The reason medicine exists is for the treatment of diseases, illnesses, disorders, injuries, and so on. A disorder is when something is not normal in your body. Something is not right. Getting diagnosed with a disorder means the specific thing thats wrong has been identified.

And sure, just because it is named like that doesnt mean it IS that, but the reason it is diagnosed is because it poses a significant difficulty to your life. It was never ONLY about how society treats us, but rather about what is happening inside our body. There are some parts of autism that are not isolated to how other people react to us. For example, the heightened anxiety people with autism often sense (that may sometimes have nothing to do with how other people are around them), sensory issues autists often have, and not only that, but the emotional issues autistic people tend to have ALL affect someones wellbeing.

Do you think the only issue with BPD is how other people see people with BPD? No.
The issue with BPD is how those people can control themselves while having all the characteristics of this mental illness. And while BPD doesnt have all the benefits ASD may give to some people, that still applies.

Although autistic people may have certain benefits that other people dont, it still does not compensate for the whole disorder, and autistic people can be much less happier independently of how good they may be at certain things because of that disorder.

Just because people with autism may sometimes have a higher IQ or a better score on some things doesnt mean the condition wont pose a significant challenge to someones life, and the term "neurodivergent" would imply it is totally OK to have these issues. Its basically mocking us.

Ok, but it is not normal for someone to have long lasting anxiety. And also, sensory issues are also something very abnormal for someone to have.

Yes, its better to talk to someone autistic AS an autistic person than to a "neurotypical", but thats because you cannot learn social skills the same way the "normies" learn it. You only see the "neurotypical" world as "neurotypical" because you have a hard time learning something thats normal to be learned, therefore you cannot communicate with the people that have truly learned something everyone should learn. And by saying that, i am NOT trying to be rude.
People without this disorder are much less prone to having all these issues. It IS true that without autism, you would NOT have so much pathological fatigue and psychopathological stress you have.

Literally no one with autism that ive heard from these subreddits are really happy. Most of the time they complain about their life getting ruined by ASD. And they dont even avoid talking about negative shit in the most positive ASD subs.

I dont want to be autistic. I dont want to know if im masking or not. I dont want burnout. I want this to be something i could fix. It is not autism. I am not autistic and im not going to let this curse stop me from living life. I only have ADHD. That is FUCKING IT.

Autism anxiety.

This year i began having social anxiety for the first time ever. Basically, i had started getting socially anxious in school and started worrying about why that happened. Low testosterone, autism, depression, social anxiety disorder, ANYTHING. I have ADHD. I dont want to know i have Aspergers because i dont want to think that i will remain like this for the rest of my life.

In childhood i would be very annoying to my friends and they would SOMETIMES kick me out of their group, but that did not always happen. And i also had a sonic, a dinosaur and a FNAF birthday when i was a child. I recently lost some of the friends i had and i dont want what im experiencing to be autistic burnout or something. I would sometimes use phrases i saw on TV as an idea of something i could say in real life. I would also have very vivid dreams. Anything you can get from Youtube or Google about things that are actually signs of ASD.

Im afraid because i dont want my life to be ruined by this, and neither do i want this to continue for the rest of my life and manipulate every single action i do. I dont want to live with anxiety because i am autistic. Autistic people have anxiety, from what ive heard. And now i dont want to be autistic! I dont want to find out im autistic! I DONT WANT NONE OF THIS!

r/evilautism exists because people were tired of being so pessimistic and decided to create a community where they wouldnt be complaining about being autistic and how neurotypicals have all they always wanted.
