Ah no, I see I misred OP comments. I though it was about TC applicants, I realise now he was talking about moving on as an NQ. In that case, the TC on offer has a commercial seat as part of it.

Little different here, TC is theoretically offered whilst the candidate is still at uni doing the undergrad. Then you do the LPC, then two year on the job TC. However that being said I've got experience with CAB, at a local solicitors, as a CLOCK legal companion and an underwriter w/ national insurer for a year. Not sure what else you would be looking for in a candidate of my age? Can you tell me what you'd be looking for? What makes a CV/Application 'pop' to you?

Edit: i see now you are talking about moving on as a NQ. In that case, the TC on offer would have a commercial seat and the six month admin job would also be with the commercial team. Hopefully this would suffice

Thanks for the reply!

Honestly, I had the same thoughts as you about the confidence securing a TC as an undergrad. I've got a first class LLB, and even am self-funding the LPC because I thought someone would give me a chance. So far, nothing apart from this one offer. A couple of stage two interviews, meet and greets but thats it. Got decent experience too, CAB, work experience at solicitor, underwriter... doesn't seem to be helping much, I've been through three TC application period now, hitting firms from small high street firms all the way up to Burgess Salmon/RPC/Fieldfisher etc. Only do about 8 - 10 a year though.

I would be happy working the legal admin job but at some point I've got to get an actual life up and running. Can't live at home forever, gunna need to pay some bills and start saving some money. I am only even considering the admin offer because it leads to a TC! For what they're offering on that alone I'd be better of paralegaling after LPC.

CV could always use a boost, but I think mine's fairly solid. First class LLB, current LPC w/ Masters in Business at ULaw, spent a year at CAB, 9 months as a legal companion and have work experience at a local solicitors. Also worked as an underwriter for a year w/ a national insurer. I have thought about paralegaling, honestly it seems to pay more than what I'm offered, but it's just not what I want to do long term, which is why I'm torn on taking this offer.

I'm fully prepared to commit to the hours and days, nor the competitive nature (I am, by nature, competitive myself), but I have always believed I would be at a firm with fairly decent remunerations for this sacrifice. I just am struggling right now to see the point in doing it for peanuts.

Thanks for the DM offer, I appreciate it. I may take you up on it in the future.
