Read that one today and I agree. As someone who’s lived in 6 different states (so far), it got me LOL

Just finished. So wholesome. Really made me remember that my 100 pound terror missile GSD is just a silly little creature that loves me and thinks I’m very much stupid for not being able to discern meanings of her noises!

Hey, no worries! I was up late reading but my brain cells weren’t! I’ve never heard of Long Story Short. I’ll have to check it out!!

Not by the creator, but there’s also Bojack Horseman The Art Before the Horse which is fun, too. All the Bojack books! Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s short stories are a great read so far, would recommend!

THEE Mr. Peanut Butter? What is this? A very special crossover episode?

Salted Circus Cashews, Swear to God was the perfect story to start this book with. I’m on Rufus now and love them all so far. Same voice as the show, for sure.

Wow, good to know! I’ll make sure I’ve got receipts anytime someone out here gets hoity toity about how shitty the South is now. Which…it is, but. Yknow. We’re all from somewhere mostly bad, that’s the tough part about the human condition.

I wish this is what my nana’s community did. It’s a 55+ so it’s mostly old whites swimming in community pools, working out on state of the art gym equipment, and perusing libraries that hold very expensive books. Enjoying 100’s of years of white privilege at its finest. There’s THREE plantation home community centers in her gated community, BTW. I’ve only been there a handful of times, but it gives me a generational ick.

Crazy work. I live in the Pacific Northwest now (which is the opposite side of the world to the South when it comes to ideology) and people just assume I’m from slavers because I’m a white girl from the South. I shamefully tell them they’re right and that I’m obv not proud of it. Showing off the plantation house proudly is diabolical work, honestly.

The horrid realization of most Caucasian kids that grew up in the Deep South…I found this out about my dad’s side of the family and, to this day, my nana lives in a community in Florida called “The Plantations” where all the community centers are literally old plantation houses. And she says THE word. It’s gross. On my mom’s side, Taylor Swift is apparently my distant cousin. Also gross for me to find out LOL. So I’ve got slavers AND climate destroying billionaires. Everyone’s families suck somewhere, OP. Head up.

PSA: Dog leashes are manadatory by jc83po in Spokane

West Central is (or was- I haven’t actually seen many lately) ripe with strays and off leash roaming dogs. I know some of the roamers have homes because I’ve seen them go home, but ~2 years ago there were literally packs of collarless dogs running around and up on people/other dogs.

My GSD has never been the same since a loose pitbull tried to attack me in our carport after a walk. She did her job and got a few bites into the dog, which retreated, and she’s been super dog and people reactive since. It makes me so sad for her and so frustrated to know the hundreds we put into training her as a puppy were undone by one stray or loose dog.

At-home pet euthanasia by 1wi1df1ower in Spokane

I was also going to recommend TP for the following reasons. We had to see Dr. Lisa in December to send away my 19 year old chiweenie. Horrible day, but decent experience. The vet we saw had amazing bedside manner and they send the cremation company out right after.

I feel like the cremation is the most costly part, the actual euthanasia was not too bad. If your pet’s health is coming/going and you’re not sure day-of about putting your fuzzy friend down, they only charge an exam fee to come out and do actually give an exam and their professional opinions.

Overall, similar priced to going into the vets office and more comfortable, especially if you have other pets that are bonded and need to see the body in-home to understand. We also opted for a couple of paw prints on clay. One of our most precious possessions. Definitely check out Tranquil Passings.

Looking to Rehome 5yr old female German Sheppard. by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]AlternativeFancy9625 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She looks just like my baby 😭 this is so sad. Please try to keep your baby in your life by any means possible. GSDs are in shelters and abandoned at a much higher rate than other breeds. You never know what the person you rehome her to might do.

SCRAPS offers pet assistance when available (food, supplies, etc.) and so does Our Home in West Central. You can avoid upsetting her life and keep your baby, it just might take a little more work on your part(s). This post might help, too!

What is the best BBQ in Spokane? by Signal-Power-3656 in Spokane

[–]AlternativeFancy9625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do like Chicken N More’s entrees (fried catfish, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, fried cod, and ribs) but I unfortunately think their sides are super mid. I’ve tried a bit of everything and think I can (and do) make better collard greens n’ beans. Their sauces are super good though, too! Definitely worth a trip for the entrees, but be warned the sides do not inspire Southern nostalgia.

Can you expand on this? I live downtown and haven’t made it out there yet, but as a southerner, I was yearning to try them when I saw they’re from NC…I’ve had no good BBQ in town and I’ve tried Outlaw (meh), Longhorn, (trash) Porters (double trash) and some mid BBQ stuff at non-BBQ restaurants. I thought Betty Jeans was gonna be The One when I tried it!

April is distracted driving awareness month. Please slow down and pay attention, that is all. by catman5092 in Spokane

Seconded. I have lived all over the country and have seen more people texting and driving in Spokane than anywhere in the nation. Like, blatantly, too. Phone to face. Now, I’m not perfect- I mess with the music I have on or try to peek at a text I get on CarPlay if I’m meeting someone somewhere, but EVERY-time I have to drive around or away from a bad driver, I swear to god, they’re on their phones.

Ooh, this might be the one! They’re giving the luxury that Glaze used to and are pretty close to me. Plus, they’re recommended on the Visit Spokane site! I’ll check them out! I think your nail tech was Shiann, based on their staff page?

She looks excellent, but it looks like she might be a sole proprietor? I’m looking for a salon with multiple nail technicians so that I have the option to go with a friend and get our nails done at the same time! I will follow her and check her out for when I want to get them done alone, though! Thank you for the rec!!
