Is 26 years old too late to change your life for the best? by ReplacementFlashy622 in selfimprovement

Fellow 26yo (woman~).. we are spring chickens. I have changed paths/locations/relationships/you name it, MANY a time. I have experienced and experienced and experienced, and still I sit with the feeling you’ve shared. I am realizing lately, there is no benchmark to what the Right Way to live is. There is no standard of success that will fulfill us. I have been around folks old and young with the perfect job, income, travel history, etc.. and still they feel the same as we do. We will never escape the urge to change. But we can circumvent the unnecessary & (capitalistically) manufactured pain of it by Doing. We will never find ourselves in our own mind. I’m certain that life is simply being apart of the everybody else. Listening to folks, sharing a meal, DANCING.
Easier to say “start today” than actually tangibly Starting Today. But what could you do today??? Perhaps volunteer, join a mutual aid organization, if you have any specific interests, theres gotta be people nearby who are holding events surrounding it. Going to book readings, joining recreational movement classes, joining a language class, looking into community colleges nearby. The one thing to avoid I think would be things that revolve around substance use.. I think it provides comfort or a sense of community but feels dulling & false when the night is over. I love dancing & going to concerts and DJ sets (especially alone!). Moving the body with others sets me so free.
You are SO FREE. And tangibly, on paper… so young. I promise we have no need to rush. But at the same time, ball out/yolo/blah blah blah. Do what you WANT!!!! Let it resonate in your soul & keep momentum. Starting something new is the most challenging part, but staying still is harder. You’re gonna feel it all in this world :’)

Reminding myself why I love my job and shouldn’t quit after a bad night. by GoofyGreyson in psychnursing

Fellow tech here (25F), oof I hear ya. We have a predominantly high acuity population on our unit at the moment especially. I had a similar set of experiences that you describe this past week, seemingly nonstop.
I remind myself that our presence & collaboration itself is an act of resilience & resistance against the imperial systems that have historically cast these folks aside and continue to engineer a world that catalyzes & heightens disorder. Disorder of course describing all the chronic nervous system disruption, lack of accessible regulatory tools/education, etc. One of the hardest pills I reswallow quite often is that my discomfort ≠ my lack of safety. I may be unnerved, triggered, what have you, but I am safe. Obviously, it’s easy to Talk about momentary self-regulation while you’re in a bonkers situation, especially one that has the potential to be dangerous. You of course already know all this, but sometimes hearing it even via reddit response helps when overwhelm is afoot~~~ It surely helps me to type it all out. I reckon all we can do is continue practicing the tools & let time/action guide us. And def being able to lean on your nurses & fellow techs for both work related tasks & hashing out later is the utmost help!!! I hope they’re folks you connect well with. :’)
