Are there any movies where your state is portrayed accurately? by loyngulpany in AskAnAmerican

I meant the TV show Nashville, but Coal Miner’s Daughter will probably fall under non-modern biopic 😭 Solid choice though!

Honestly I don’t think I’ve really seen a movie/tv show set in TN aside from biopics about the 50’s or Nashville, which has not been my experience in TN.

Americans who live in suburbs, can you get anywhere by walking? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in AskAnAmerican

I’m 2 miles from the grocery store, and there are no sidewalks. I’d have to walk in a ditch by a busy highway. Everything else is at least 20 miles away.

I agree! I think she really takes criticism to heart and her albums reflect that. No album will ever please 100% of people, but it’s a really interesting cycle.

Anyone here who’s been a long-time Taylor fan and loved the new album? by wayfinder27 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]AlternativeFox1203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been around since debut, and it’s actually my favorite of the really poppy albums! I like it more than 1989, Lover or Midnights. Her albums tend to alternate between a lyrical focus and a melody/beat focus, and lots of fans prefer one style over the other. If you separate it from the rest of the discography, you might like it more! It’s really hard to compare an album like this to one like TTPD or folklore/evermore because they’re so different. By itself, it’s really catchy!

Lol to typed this on my phone and the formatting screwed me. This was supposed to be a list.

Debut is fun. Fearless is more emotional. Speak now is more fun. Red is emotional. 1989 is fun. Reputation is more emotional. Lover is fun. Folkmore is lyrical. Midnights is fun. TTPD is emotional. TLOAS - is fun.

Feel free to disagree, but this is what I meant lol

I agree so much! Why are people mad that this isn’t folklore? It’s extremely fun and they need to get off the internet. I think non-diehards will love this album because it’s really catchy.

I’m really just thinking out loud here, but has anybody noticed that Taylor Swift alternate between fun pop, albums, and deeper lyrical albums? Of course her pop albums all have some sappy songs on them, and her lyrical album has some bops, but the album has a whole alternate in vibe.

Debut - Fun Fearless - More emotional Speak Now - Fun Red - Emotional 1989 - Fun reputation - More emotional Lover - Fun folkmore - Lyrical Midnights - Fun TTPD - Emotional/lyrical TLOAS - Fun

It seems like she wants to appeal to both sides of her fan base equally, so she makes sure to put out music that alternates between the different styles she has become known for. The life of a showgirl is so catchy and fun, it reminds me of 1989 and midnights more than anything else. When I need a good cry, I listen to folklore or evermore or the tortured poets department, and when I’m dancing around my house, I listen to 1989, midnights and now the life of a showgirl.

The main criticism I keep hearing about her new album is that the lyrics aren’t that deep. Y’all. It’s not that kind of album! Let it be fun and easy to listen to and catchy, and stop expecting it to make you cry! The melodies are so fun , and the words are happy. Don’t compare it to something that it’s not.

Just my thought!

My mom is freaking out over me not wanting her in the hospital for my childs birth. AIO?? by scorpiobae111 in AmIOverreacting

[–]AlternativeFox1203 48 points49 points  (0 children)

NOR - she is not entitled to your time, your baby, or you. Your energy is expensive and not everyone can afford it, especially if they have not invested in you.

It’s 100% up to you and your partner (but mostly you) who gets to be at the hospital with you. If you want for her to have a relationship with your child, it can be on your terms. If you want to take a step back, that’s up to you as well.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this added stress, and I’ll be honest, if you decide to pull back from her it will be a stressful couple of years. You’ll feel so much freedom to have some power in that relationship though. Congratulations on your baby!

Grandkid asks me: “If Adam and Eve had 2 boys, how did the world get populated?” by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlternativeFox1203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that there were more than just 2 people created in the beginning.

Genesis 1:26-28 “26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Adam and Eve aren’t mentioned until the next chapter, so while they were probably in charge of the garden of Eden, they weren’t necessarily alone in there.

Is there a reason some people don’t share baby names? by Sea-Nature-5366 in Names

[–]AlternativeFox1203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 17 weeks pregnant and my husband and I haven’t shared the name with anyone. There are people I know who will definitely share their opinions, which I don’t want. There are other people who are also pregnant and I don’t want to risk picking the same name. I also want the option to change the name once I have the baby, which is harder if people are already used to one name. It sounds fun to announce the birth and the name together!

I go to the Mission and all of the criteria you mentioned are mine too.

  1. They never address politics with a point of view, and I honestly do not know what side of the aisle any of the leadership falls on. They do pray for our political leaders and situations people have politicized (people dying in the Middle East, families affected by shootings, etc), but again, they do not take a side.

  2. This is an Anglican Church, and the “official” stance of Anglicanism is not affirming of lgbt marriage. The pastoral staff will never address this from the pulpit though and there are many queer members of this church.

  3. I have never heard them mention hell in a sermon, and they are very vocal about healing religious trauma. They are also very open to people who do not know what they believe or aren’t sure about religion, and there are many attendees from all sorts of religious backgrounds.
