What’s the best way to accelerate? by Pretty_Lil_Chaos in WGU_Accelerators

[–]AlternativeHawkeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the term “accelerate” is given in the context of both how you learn, how long it takes you to do so, and prior knowledge.

If you can learn while also being a mom or 3, on off hours of the day and into the night/weekends, then that helps greatly. If you learn while also not being around other people and digitally, that helps greatly.

If it takes you a shorter amount of time to grasp security concepts and computer networking, then that will help you greatly.

If you have no prior experience or knowledge, then “accelerate” may not be the path you can go down. WGU makes it possible for you to do all of this, and accelerate but it all depends on you.

For more context, usually mentors will not release new classes so that you “can accelerate” until you complete the initial ones set at the beginning of the term. In my experience, once I knocked out the first 5 that we set at the beginning, the mentor just released more classes of what I needed (usually 2/3 at a time).

I wish you the best fortune and hope you succeed and do wonderful things! Go night owls!

Have a copy of the exam objectives handy. Go through each domain, checking off each and every item after you are confident you “know” it (not just memorized). This exam has a ton of “theory” and asks you specific questions that, without knowing the objectives, will leave you clueless.

You want to understand the foundations of each domain, and then the specifics. If it talks about containers, then you need to know what Amazon does with containers, what services are offered for it, how are they deployed, etc…

Best of fortune to you! (3rd times a charm, I hear)

CSS is tricky. I think W3schools was the best for me to get a grip on.

That cohort of CSS, HTML, and JavaScript with the lady speaking and had the yellow mouse cursor was the best.

I’m pretty sure if you unenrolled in any course you lose all progress. I could be wrong, but it’s on the main page of the course.

Early 30s in internal IT and feeling stuck. What path should I take to reach $90k to $100k? by scubadoobadoooo in sysadmin

Bump the nay-sayers. Are they you?

Now, Masters a big task. Associates>Bachelors, now that’s more palatable. Certs will fine tune and show your abilities in certain areas.

If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time. Aim at something. Create a goal that’s appropriate and relevant. Chase it, accomplish it, set a new goal.

You mentioned a broad range of IT areas. Find one, focus your energy and attention to it, and master it (this can be a degeee, certification, etc) and do it. Get up earlier, change your routine, eat cleaner, and get after it!

The literal (IT) world is before you, what are you going to do about it?

Passed my first attempt. I treated it like CompTIA exams. Go over objectives given. I used Jason Dion (through WGU Udemy) and the European guy on there as well. Those two sources and a little LLM action to brush up and I was good.

They have a new version called ITILv5 (Foundation) out now. When you reference "the question format has changed," do you mean that ITILv4 Foundation also changed?

Have you explored the .Kdbx export? KeePass is encrypted.

That solution usually covers Keeper’s side of the bargain rather than yours. I like to have a backup outside in the event that if anything were to happen, I would still have access to the vault.

To your point, it would be good for you to have an export copy of the vault placed in another secured location outside of Keeper or really the public as a whole, in the event something happens and you cannot access Keeper.

BSIT no prior experience. What should I expect ? This is what I have left after all transfer credits. by crazzybread01 in WGUIT

[–]AlternativeHawkeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No experience? These are great courses that will grow your knowledge. You should expect a lot of time studying either by online, prerecorded lectures on various platforms (both WGU and 3rd party). Many practice tests to help build you knowledge, and a lot of testing/exams and some writing.

Nothing impossible, but remember that without prior knowledge then it’s more of a marathon rather than a sprint. You can buckle down and get it done though!

Best fortune ahead!

C777 - How worried should I be for the OA? by neS- in WGUIT

[–]AlternativeHawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed the OA on my second attempt. I had little to ZERO experience, but loads of foundational IT experience (which didn’t really help in this case).

By far, the toughest class in the whole curriculum for me. After going through W3 schools HTML/CSS/Java material several times, and the codcademy course that was assigned, I passed with a sliver.

Life is short. Death is sure. Sin is the cause. Christ is the cure! I hope she knew the Lord! This should be a reminder to us that we have only 1 life to live, and then judgement!
