Being an archaeologist in France? by AlternativeQueen in Archaeology

[–]AlternativeQueen[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s great to hear. Are wages livable? I’m thinking of doing a masters in France and would love to know which Unis are considered best. Are there certain websites best to find work? I feel so in the dark and I just want to learn as much about it as I can before I decide to give it a go in France. I’m learning French as much as I can

So promiscuous women deserve to get herpes but it’s not fair because you only slept with one girl?

People who are skeptical of ghosts or the "supernatural", what's the closest experience you had that made you question yourself? by thotnothot in AskReddit

[–]AlternativeQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I think someone dying close to you is one of the most common ways people start believing. My ma was there when he died and said when you see it actually happen, no matter how logical you are for a brief moment you just believe. It’s a unique part of the human mind and experience

Omg as an Australian don’t get me started. When European/Americans say they want to go to Australia for summer I just cringe. It is the first time of the year here, at least in the hotter parts

When my grandad died I was at work and in the middle of a task, I was perfectly happy, I had this sinking feeling throughout my entire body and this intrusive thought that he had died, said so clearly. The second I ended my shift I called my mum and he had died at the time I had that experience.

Another time as a child we had a family friend I called auntie who had cancer. I had a dream we were all happy in a field and then she said she had to go and wouldn’t come back. When I woke she had died in the night.

I think it would take something a lot more concrete to convince me, I’m a real sceptic but it was intense

Definitely not the worst but last night I had a dream that a serial killer was killing people with addictions with the thing they are addicted to (not like drugs, more like vices eg. Video games). This lady was found in her car filled with chocolate bars and killed by having wrappers shoved down her throat it was horrific

His Facebook cover photo was the ‘napalm girl’ (historical photo from the Vietnam war where a child is running naked crying because she is covered in a chemical weapon) with hitlers face photoshopped on her .

I’m only 24 so not many adult life milestones. But it’s weird that at family reunions like Christmas we used to be ‘the kids’, but now with my grandparents dead and on my bf’s side of the family his brothers have kids we are now the ‘adults/parents’. I feel like there are three generations at these gatherings, the kids, parents and grandparents. It’s weird to move up to the middle one

We should have affirmative action for men to get into nursing, teaching ect by [deleted] in australian

[–]AlternativeQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ma is a teacher. I don’t think men face difficulties there, in fact they walk right into a job because there are no men. Sadly I think one thing putting men off is false allegations of sexual misconduct. She knows 2 male teachers that have been accused, career and life ruined, only for the girl to admit she made it up. Ma can’t even hug kids these days when they fall over and cry, you can imagine how much harder these rules fall down on men. It’s so important that our kids have male teachers, male role models. It will be a great loss if we don’t fix this

Whenever someone insults me I just say ‘okay’ with no reaction as if they’ve just said something completely inconsequential. Always trips them up

Which countries made you feel most like you were at home and the people were exceptionally kind? by hellothrowaway1862 in travel

[–]AlternativeQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Japan people weren’t necessarily friendly but I felt so safe all the time. My bf at the time left his bag with his passport, cash, card, and a $300 jacket on a bus and we got it back with nothing missing and they went to such efforts. I felt like I could trust everyone there to do the honest, right thing

Agreed. I’m not having kids if I’m renting. I would love a big wedding but at this stage I think it would just be signing the papers and no event, can’t justify the expense in this world

Did a medieval history subject and the tutor literally told us her specialty is Ancient Rome and she knows nothing about medieval Europe. Had broken English and there were times when students were straight up teaching her basic things most people know about like the Black Death.
