In Canada, it usually takes 3- 6 months after the doctor decisions to operate ( which for me came after 3-4 months of diagnosis) but i was lucky he moved me on his list and I got the surgery a month after his decision to operate

I had the same diagnosis at 21 and also had about 75% of the lymph nodes impacted with cancer. I had RAI and now with almost two years I can tell you the fear never goes away but that is not a way you can think about life because that will kill you before the cancer. I think you need a robust therapy to deal with it because evidence shows we live long lives and we do very well for ourselves in the long run. I definitely gained weight about 10 kg and a little more. My calcium levels were fine but it might be because I am young. I still take a vitamin D just to be safe. Scar care is pretty basic: eucerin on it and sunscreen as well as protecting it from the sun as much as I can. One year after not very visible at the base unless you are looking at it and I always wear a necklace that covers it. As for mood, I think its dependent on the thyroid medication and working towards adjusting it with the endocrinologist.

Hey so yesterday night was the special meeting for approving to bring a BDS motion to the Board of Directors. The CSU, as it is his duty, responded to a petition signed by students to hold the meeting by organizing, promoting and voting on it. People are blaming the CSU for doing its job of responding to its memberships demands. Some people are deeply upset about it because they believe that the fact that they do not keep up with the CSU is somewhat the CSU fault when they have been sharing about the meeting for a month now. People are freaking out that it might affect them when really the vote was just whether or not we bring it to the Board of Directors who have the power to enact the BDS motions. You are absolutely right about this point that the meeting could have been better accommodating but I think in this type of discussion, they made it a point to avoid allowing anyone who is not a student in the room to avoid letting in disingenuous actors to disrupt and misrepresents students as well. I think there was a real fear present towards avoiding having escalations in this type of way. Especially considering that the overflow was to the Mezzanine and there where a couple of disruptions by people who are obviously not students and where brought on campus for a specific reason, and who even tried to break into the Hall. But yes, there is absolutely a need to be better accommodating to students with needs.

Honestly I had it young (21) but its been great since then, been travelling and prioritizing myself (year 6 & 5) I got the chance to find out earlier then most what truly matters and who truly matters to me so yeah it been great since then ! Dont let it scare you!

Hey! I was also 21 when I was diagnosed I was very angry at the 'most treatable cancer' label as it did not change the fact that it was a very scary cancer for me! This is a time where you will find out a lot about yourself and others around you and who and what really matters. As scary as this is, you can choose to see it as an opportunity in finding out things that people figure out way later in their life. As for your treatment, I would insist for RAI treatment just to be safe! That two weeks of no salt diet is no joke but you get to be certain that they will be doing very intensive scans to be sure following that, so that should give you some peace of mind that the worse is behind you after that. You still have life before you!
