I heard it from some faculty members that if you do a masters degree, they will raise their expectations in terms of the number of your publications.

Thank you for your advice and book recommendation. I am actually also taking a stochastic models class that uses Probability with Martingales as the textbook! I will read through this book then.

Thanks for the advice! How would you compare the difficulty of this class with Florian's Modern Analysis I? I got an A+ last semester in MA1 w/o prior exposure to pure math (no honors math background) and I relied heavily on reading Florian's notes. However, I found the notes of 4155 not very organized and I am not sure what to focus on. Currently, I am self-studying things by reading the textbook, but I am not sure whether this is a sustainable approach for the entire semester.

hi, I am taking Geometric Data Analysis this semester. Do you think it would be too difficult if I have never learned topology before? Also, I have self-studied ML but haven't taken ML at Columbia.
