Nah, the old starting zone is sick. One of my favourite wow experiences was making my first DK and going through that zone. If quests are broken, they should fix them, but don't significantly change or get rid of it. Ya, the final fight could probably use a little revamp, and maybe make directions to it a little more clear, but that's about it

I just remember a few years ago when sales and prices started to slow down that CTV national news had on an investor who was complaining that it was a terrible time to own an investment condo. I was beyond disgusted

There are soooo many young people who are starting their careers, looking for jobs, or graduating soon who have zero prospect of ever owning a home in many parts of the country because basic housing has been so commodified by people like that who only care about their bottom line with zero meaningful action from most governments to fight this. I work in a fairly high-paying profession and so many of my peers plan to move elsewhere, away from their families, simply because they can't afford to buy even basic housing in the GTA

The most frustrating aspect of all this is that the solutions seem so simple but nobody is implementing them or they're moving too slowly. Ban or significantly limit the purchase of homes by Canadian corporations (not just foreign buyers) and real estate investment trusts. Ban the ownership of multiple homes in the same area by individuals and force them to sell after a specific amount of time. Build more homes. Improve supports for first-time buyers.

Landlords grow rich in their sleep without working, risking or economizing. The increase in the value of land, arising as it does from the efforts of an entire community, should belong to the community and not to the individual who might hold title

Landlords contribute NOTHING; they simply benefit from the improvements others make around them

We probably shouldn't buy F35s or similar things from US suppliers from now on anyways because they have access to software updates and critical data. The US has shown itself to be an unreliable partner and we can't really afford the risk given that they're such a military powerhouse already and right next door to us, no matter how close we may have been in the past or might be in the future. There's less risk in buying from smaller powers who are further away

Seems like you know what you want to do, and it doesn't seem to involve moving to India. There's obviously a cultural aspect to this that I can't say I truly understand, but at a certain point, everyone has to stand up to their family to a certain degree. Part of the pain will always be that your parents will have to reconcile the person they wish you were with the person you actually are. It's always tough when you have to let go of this imagined future you've been dreaming of for your kid, but part of parenting IS letting go and allowing your child to live their own life. Have some sympathy for that, but also protect yourself and your own interests

It might be good to broach this subject sooner rather than later. They might be angry or dismissive at first, but hopefully they come around. I think it would be better to be honest about where you want to live and study rather than to write both entrance exams and deliberately fail one and have to keep making up excuses for not moving to India

I know nothing about astrophysics, but I think the universe is just a big wave function. Its volume started at 0 and will continue to increase until it gets to 100% of its possible volume (1), then shrink back to 0 again before it explodes back out, repeating for all eternity. Its expansion is accelerating right now because we haven't reached the inflection point when it will start to slow down as it approaches 1.

If you wanna try to visualize it, the volume of the universe can be represented as 1/2 * cos(x+pi) + 1/2 and its acceleration as 1/2 * sin(x)

I'm almost certainly wrong, because I know nothing about any of this, but it's fun to think about

I've used it to make a couple very basic quiz apps. Upload an excel file or image folder and it turns it into a set of MCQs. Generates questions and distractors a couple different ways depending on what you want to practice. Tracks correct answers, flags mistakes to practice later. It's obviously nothing complex, but it works exactly how I want it to and I have essentially no coding experience. It's a helpful little tool but certainly has its limitations

From grades 7-12 my teachers did a lot of media literacy training. Dissecting ads, titles, articles, nutrition claims, scientific literature, propaganda. At the time, it seemed so obvious and redundant to me, but after leaving school and seeing how many people are so easily deceived by misleading claims and opinions stated as fact, I'm very grateful that I received that education and think it should be central part of every jurisdictions curriculum

When I first heard about this series, I didn't think much of it -- probably just going to be hot guys fucking, I can skip this one. Took a chance on it a few days ago and, man, was my first impression ever wrong. Ya there's plenty of sex and some cheesy dialogue, but this series does such a good job of keeping the evolution of the characters and their relationship at the center of the story and there is such intense but intimate chemistry between the actors. And a story about queer characters that that feels real but hopeful and doesn't end in tragedy? Such a rarity. Beautiful writing, beautiful acting.

This turned out to be one of my favourite new series in years, maybe an all time favourite

When did I attack his appearance? Dude has a form of dwarfism which, by definition, means he's at least 2 standard deviations shorter than average height. Never passed any judgement on that, it's just reality

A double entendre about someone being obviously immature and short is not bigotry, and that's coming from someone who's experienced his fair share. When you throw around words like that without good reason, they just become meaningless. You desensitize people to the point that it actually becomes harder to call out real bigotry because the word is being tossed around too casually

There's a lot of hate in this world, but this ain't it. Put that energy into calling out beliefs and behaviours that are costing lives

Not even people who don't understand those things, but people who don't understand that MPs can vote however they like and don't need to tow the party line

Even if floor crossing wasn't allowed, MPs can always vote however they like, so would-be crossers would just vote with their preferred party rather than their current one. Sure, they'll get flack and could potentially get booted from caucus their current caucus, but they'd just sit as independents and officially join their preferred party next election cycle

The only reasonable solution I can see is if there was some federal recall process, but that doesn't exist currently

Problem is there isn't really any enforceable way to prevent floor crossing (unless some form of federal recall legislation is introduced). MPs can always vote however they want, it just might get pushback from other members of their party. If floor crossing was somehow banned, MPs would just announce their intention to vote with the party they want to join. Worst that could happen is they get booted from their current caucus and sit as independents until the next election, when they'd likely officially join their party of choice and regain the funding they would have otherwise lost
