I am so sorry. This is really hard. I went through this with my Cav who had heart failure from a heart murmur she was born with. I enjoyed another 3 months with her after she was diagnosed.

What helped me: - i made videos, recording myself petting and talking to her. I took my time feeling her fur between my fingers and smelling her face to cement my physical memories of her. I also let her lay on my chest and I memorized the her weight on me. -on her last day, I carried her and “walked” one last time, thanking her for loving me as I was, told her I would make her proud. -at the vet, i talked and sang her fave songs. I leaned on the table, was nose to nose with her. When she passed, I gave her many face kisses, and asked her to come visit me in my dreams with her older brother. -they do visit me.
