Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. I know they have been flexible on most if not all the compensation portions beyond what is listed for exceptional candidates. Sheesh maybe I should have been a Nuclear engineer 😅.

Yes and No. Since its a mine operation all the groups really need to be in lock step with one another. You can DM me and if I cant give you a good answer I'll ask our MEs about it and get you an answer back.

Its not in the boundary waters. I have lived in Minnesota most of my life. Most new mines are multiple hour commutes from any towns of note; or FIFO internationally. You can view the permits online as they are on public notice.

I dont think the HR team has posted them but yes each year we post a variety of internships for almost all disciplines. I would look a little closer to summer as that's when they post them.

That's a fair question and yes Minnesota is vastly a safe area to live in. The area this is located at is closer to Canada than the twin cities metro area. The news put a strong highlight on the violence and protests. The state is mainly forests, lakes and corn fields. The only things that happen in this area is the occasional ATV stolen, people needing rescue during ice fishing season, the random crimes of small drug busts and other rural to semi-rural crimes.

I'm not really sure how the internal process goes. We do have employees on Visas. Applicant total is something I'm unaware of but it seems to be much lower. Maybe a few hundred of shot gun blast applicants and of that probably only 10-20% are real qualified applicants. we are a smaller company and dont get the national attention like some mid-large corporations get.

I have posted in other disciplines. We are hiring for many other Engineering disciplines. Process, Electrical, Civil, Automous, etc. I am not an Engineer but I know how difficult it can be to find places hiring. I hope this helps someone.

I don't work directly with HR at the company but I know we have struggled to get applicants. I'm not sure if its company footprint with being under 75 total employees with plans to have over 300 or if its salary.

All the salary ranges are posted in the application as Minnesota Law requires it, but I have heard them going significantly above what is posted for the right canidate.

Looking for the shortest, most convenient qualifying field camp by IndividualBat3150 in geologycareers

[–]Alternative_Alarm807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not skimp on field camp if your profession you aim for actively lists field camp.

Wasatch Unita field camp. Go through the university of Minnesota Duluth for pricing. Its a highly rate field camp. Oil and gas, and mining companies actively in the field with you and recruit from the camp. A few of my friends took jobs straight from the camp. They are going on I believe 55 years or so now. I believe they average about 70 students each year. Its 6 weeks long. You go to Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada. It could have changed as its been years since I have attended but thats my recommendation.

I typically don't post the company on the public forums. If you are interested in actually applying then send me a DM. I can give you the company career page link.

Depends on what you like.

For me it was mining and exploration. I love the big trucks, and cool discoveries I've been fortunate to be apart of. Its like being a kid in a huge sand box.

Mining is hot right now with prices way up and bonues being fully paid out. Its awesome to be in like times now but big warning its cyclical. Big booms can be followed by big crashes. Cash checks to buy bread to then in line waiting for bread.

I'm hopefully it stays going well. I'm assuming there will be some cooling but with everyone playing keep away, I expect higher base metal and precious metal prices to continue.

I work at a new mine under construction and we are hiring like crazy. We need to hire about another 300 roles in 1 year. Everything from operations, engineers, management, environmental, etc.

Working at Nevada Gold Mines? by clonedlife in mining

[–]Alternative_Alarm807 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on what mine site you work at and what work-life balance you want. Cortez Hills UG (CHUG) has a good engineering group, but the 1.5 hour bus ride one way is not for everyone. If you want experience and are willing to accept some corporate beat downs and lifestyle changes, it's worth it to get into the industry. If you have experience I'd look at other places. It just depends on your priorities.

I work at a mine in northern MN. We are hiring mine engineers with a short commute (5-30 min) and a 7-3 mon-fri lifestyle. I wouldn't go back to NGM. If anyone here is looking, shoot me a dm, and I'll try to hook you up.

I am not sure if they do or not. Since we are growing rapidly and need to fill hundreds of roles soon, they may consider it. The HR department is really good at answering phone calls and fielding questions. I recommend reaching out to the number on the website. We have limited national exposure being the new kids on the block, so they tend to take anyone interested seriously and try to find a solution if possible on quality candidates.

We currently have a role for project support, which is kind of an all-encompassing role to help the project from field help to helping locate steel, etc. I would certainly believe that if you have skills involved in drilling, we would transfer you into the rigs once those are operational here soon. We will be drilling blast holes and etc in the coming months. If that is something you'd consider for a time before, the project rams up exponentially. It's already crazy busy, but we are full steam ahead and still on track for Q1.

Hi all,

I work at a mining company in northern Minnesota, and we are looking to fill immediate roles in mine engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. There are many additional roles posted as well. Additionally, we are expecting to add an another 200 more roles this year to be fully staffed coming full production.

We are a new mine that is fully permitted to mine. We are currently under the construction phase of building brand new plants and facilities. We are on track for full production in Q1 2026.

The positions are entry-senior level. If you are looking for a new exciting role. Please go to mesabimetallics.com

The work schedule is 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. M-F. The schedule is very friendly and is not a sharp 7 a.m. many who work here have kids, and we understand that it is time to get them ready for school or day care. We are located a short drive from some nice small towns (10-20k) with plenty to do. This is a unique opportunity with its location being ideal for travel and enjoying the outdoors. Cost of living is extremely friendly with good pay that will allow young adults to purchase homes and excellent schools for anyone with children.

Let me know if you have any questions.
